أعلنت شرطة سانجاريدي في الهند ارتفاع حصيلة ضحايا انفجار مصنع شركة «سيجاتشي إندستريز» للصناعات الكيماوية في منطقة سانجاريدي بولاية تيلانجانا جنوب الهند إلى 42 قتيلاً.
وانتشلت السلطات الهندية اليوم المزيد من الجثث خلال عمليات البحث والإنقاذ المستمرة وسط أنقاض المصنع المدمر، وأفادت الشرطة بأن الانفجار، الذي وقع في مفاعل كيميائي داخل المنشأة، أدى إلى حريق ضخم حول المصنع إلى ركام، مع تصاعد أعمدة من الدخان الأسود الكثيف.
وقال قائد شرطة سانجاريدي باريتوش بانكاج، تم انتشال 42 جثة حتى الآن، وما زالت فرق الإنقاذ تبحث بين الأنقاض عن ناجين أو ضحايا آخرين.
وأضاف، تسبب الانفجار في إصابة 36 شخصًا بعضهم في حالة حرجة، وتم نقلهم إلى مستشفيات قريبة، في حين أشارت تقارير إعلامية إلى أن 65 موظفًا كانوا داخل المصنع وقت وقوع الحادث، ما يثير مخاوف من ارتفاع الحصيلة مع استمرار عمليات البحث.
وأعلنت شركة «سيجاتشي إندستريز»، التي تقدم خدمات في صناعات الأدوية والأغذية ومستحضرات التجميل، أن الجزء الأكبر من المصنع دُمر، وأن العمليات فيه ستظل معلقة لمدة لا تقل عن 90 يومًا، وقد سجلت الشرطة قضية ضد إدارة الشركة بناءً على شكوى مقدمة من نجل أحد الضحايا، وفتحت تحقيقًا لتحديد أسباب الانفجار، وسط تقارير تشير إلى أن عدم الالتزام بمعايير السلامة قد يكون عاملاً رئيسيًا.
وزار رئيس وزراء ولاية تيلانجانا، ريفانث ريدي، موقع الحادث ومستشفى في باتانشيرو لتفقد حالة المصابين، معلنًا تقديم تعويضات مالية بقيمة 200 ألف روبية (نحو 2332 دولارًا) لذوي القتلى و50 ألف روبية (نحو 560 دولارًا) لكل مصاب، وفقًا لمكتب رئيس الوزراء الهندي ناريندرا مودي.

The police in Sangareddy, India, announced that the death toll from the explosion at the "Sigachi Industries" chemical plant in the Sangareddy area of Telangana, southern India, has risen to 42 fatalities.
Indian authorities today recovered more bodies during ongoing search and rescue operations amid the rubble of the destroyed plant, and police reported that the explosion, which occurred in a chemical reactor within the facility, led to a massive fire that reduced the plant to ruins, with columns of thick black smoke rising.
Police Chief of Sangareddy, Paritosh Pankaj, stated that 42 bodies have been recovered so far, and rescue teams are still searching through the debris for survivors or additional victims.
He added that the explosion injured 36 people, some of whom are in critical condition, and they were transferred to nearby hospitals, while media reports indicated that 65 employees were inside the plant at the time of the incident, raising concerns about the death toll as search operations continue.
Sigachi Industries, which provides services in the pharmaceuticals, food, and cosmetics industries, announced that the majority of the plant was destroyed and that operations will remain suspended for at least 90 days. The police have registered a case against the company's management based on a complaint filed by the son of one of the victims and have opened an investigation to determine the causes of the explosion, amid reports suggesting that non-compliance with safety standards may be a key factor.
The Chief Minister of Telangana, K. Chandrashekar Rao, visited the site of the incident and a hospital in Patancheru to check on the condition of the injured, announcing financial compensation of 200,000 rupees (approximately $2,332) for the families of the deceased and 50,000 rupees (approximately $560) for each injured person, according to the office of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Industrial accidents in India are common due to poor adherence to safety and construction standards, along with the fact that safety measures in Indian factories are often inadequate, leading to such disasters. Last May, Hyderabad witnessed a fire in a commercial building that claimed the lives of 17 people, and in April 2024, 24 people were killed in a fire at an amusement park in Gujarat. In 2022, an explosion at a chemical plant in Gujarat resulted in the deaths of 6 people, reflecting ongoing safety challenges in the Indian industrial sector.
