أعلن اليوم مقتل (11) عاملًا وإصابة (7) آخرين في انهيار جزئي بمنجم «كرش الفيل» في بلدة الحويد بولاية نهر النيل شرقي السودان, ووقع الحادث خلال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع، ونُقِل المصابون إلى المستشفى لتلقي العلاج.
وأوقفت الشركة القائمة بأعمال التنقيب في الموقع، مجددة تحذيراتها للمنقبين التقليديين بعدم العمل فيه.
ويُعد السودان من أبرز منتجي الذهب في أفريقيا، غير أن حوادث الانهيار تتكرر نتيجة ضعف إجراءات السلامة، وقد شهدت البلاد حوادث مماثلة في الأعوام السابقة، أبرزها في (2023) و(2021)، وأسفرت عن عشرات الوفيات.
Today, it was announced that (11) workers were killed and (7) others were injured in a partial collapse at the "Kersh Al-Fil" mine in the town of Al-Huwaid, River Nile State, eastern Sudan. The incident occurred over the weekend, and the injured were transferred to the hospital for treatment.
The company conducting the mining operations at the site has suspended its activities, reiterating its warnings to traditional miners not to work there.
Sudan is one of the leading gold producers in Africa; however, collapse incidents occur frequently due to weak safety measures. The country has witnessed similar incidents in previous years, most notably in (2023) and (2021), resulting in dozens of fatalities.
