رحّلت السلطات الأمريكية مواطناً مصرياً؛ بعد إدانته بركل كلب جمارك خلال أداء عمله في مطار دوليس الدولي قرب واشنطن.
واعترف المتهم أمام المحكمة بركله للكلب «فريدي» التابع لإدارة الجمارك الأمريكية، مما تسبب في إصابته.
وحسب وثائق المحكمة، وقع الحادث بمنطقة الأمتعة بالمطار، عندما كان الكلب «فريدي» يفحص أمتعة رحلة قادمة من القاهرة وتمكن من رصد أكثر من 45 كيلوغراماً من المواد الغذائية المحظورة.
وأظهرت لقطات كاميرات المراقبة قيام المتهم بركل الكلب بقوة أدت إلى ارتفاعه في الهواء، حيث تُظهر الصور الكلب وهو يقف على رجليه الخلفيتين قبل الحادث، ثم في الهواء مع انتصاب أذنيه.
وكشف بيان نشرته سلطة الجمارك ومراقبة الحدود الأمريكية على موقعها الرسمية وورد فيه: «أقر رجل مصري (الجنسية) بالذنب في تهم فيدرالية، بعد أن ركل كلباً متخصصاً في الكشف عن المنتجات الزراعية تابعاً لجمارك وحماية الحدود الأمريكية والذي نبهه إلى وجود منتجات زراعية غير معلنة في أمتعته في مطار واشنطن دولس الدولي، الثلاثاء».
وأكد البيان:«أقرّ حامد رمضان بيومي علي ماري، البالغ من العمر 70 عاماً، بالذنب خلال مثوله الأولي أمام المحكمة الجزئية الأمريكية، المنطقة الشرقية لولاية فرجينيا، بتهمة إيذاء الحيوانات المستخدمة في إنفاذ القانون. وحُسبت له مدة العقوبة، وأُمر بدفع أتعاب الطبيب البيطري، والتوجه فوراً إلى مكتب الجمارك وحماية الحدود لإبعاده من الولايات المتحدة».
The U.S. authorities deported an Egyptian citizen after he was convicted of kicking a customs dog while performing his duties at Dulles International Airport near Washington.
The defendant admitted in court to kicking the dog "Freddy," which belongs to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, causing it injury.
According to court documents, the incident occurred in the baggage area of the airport when the dog "Freddy" was inspecting luggage from a flight arriving from Cairo and managed to detect over 45 kilograms of prohibited food items.
Surveillance camera footage showed the defendant kicking the dog with such force that it was propelled into the air, as the images depict the dog standing on its hind legs before the incident and then airborne with its ears perked up.
A statement published by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection on its official website stated: "An Egyptian man pleaded guilty to federal charges after kicking a dog trained to detect agricultural products belonging to Customs and Border Protection, which alerted him to the presence of undeclared agricultural products in his luggage at Washington Dulles International Airport on Tuesday."
The statement confirmed: "Hamid Ramadan Bayoumi Ali Mari, 70 years old, pleaded guilty during his initial appearance in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia to charges of harming animals used in law enforcement. His sentence was calculated, and he was ordered to pay veterinary fees and to report immediately to Customs and Border Protection for removal from the United States."
