كشفت السلطات الأمريكية توجيه اتهامات ثقيلة لشاب بريطاني يُدعى كاي ويست (25 عاماً)، يُعتقد أنه العقل المدبر وراء شبكة قرصنة إلكترونية عالمية عُرفت باسم «IntelBroker»، التي تسببت في أضرار قُدّرت بأكثر من 25 مليون دولار حول العالم.
ووفق بيان صادر عن مكتب المدعي العام الأمريكي في نيويورك، تم القبض على ويست في فرنسا في فبراير 2025، وتطالب الولايات المتحدة بتسليمه لمحاكمته على أراضيها.
وذكرت لائحة الاتهام التي أُعلنت الأربعاء أن ويست -ويُعرف أيضاً باسم كايل نورثرن- كان يقود مجموعة إلكترونية تُدعى «CyberN» نفذت عمليات اختراق ضد أكثر من 40 جهة، منها شركات اتصالات أمريكية، ومزودو خدمات صحية وإنترنت، وجهات حكومية بارزة مثل وكالة يوروبول وDC Health Link، التي تدير التأمين الصحي لأعضاء الكونغرس.
وقد استغل ويست هوية «IntelBroker» في بيع البيانات المسروقة عبر منتديات مظلمة على الإنترنت، حيث عُرضت هذه البيانات في أكثر من 41 عملية بيع، إلى جانب 117 منشوراً تم فيها تسريب بيانات حساسة، بعضها سُوِّق مجاناً مقابل اعتمادات افتراضية.
وتشمل البيانات المسروقة معلومات شديدة الحساسية مثل: سجلات طبية، بيانات ضمان اجتماعي، ومراسلات تسويقية.
التحقيقات أثبتت صلة ويست بالهوية الرقمية عبر تتبّع عملية شراء مشفرة تم تحويلها إلى حساب على Coinbase مسجل باسمه الحقيقي، إضافة إلى أدلة عُثر عليها في حسابه على Gmail.
ويواجه ويست 4 تهم رئيسية، بينها التآمر لقرصنة أنظمة محمية، والاحتيال الإلكتروني، والوصول غير المشروع إلى حواسيب، وقد تصل عقوبته في حال الإدانة إلى 50 عاماً من السجن.
وتأتي هذه القضية في وقت تُسجّل فيه الجرائم الإلكترونية أرقاماً قياسية عالمياً، إذ بلغت خسائر الاحتيال الإلكتروني في الولايات المتحدة فقط نحو 9.3 مليار دولار خلال عام 2024.
The U.S. authorities revealed heavy charges against a British young man named Kai West (25 years old), believed to be the mastermind behind a global hacking network known as “IntelBroker,” which caused damages estimated at over $25 million worldwide.
According to a statement issued by the U.S. Attorney's Office in New York, West was arrested in France in February 2025, and the United States is seeking his extradition for trial on its territory.
The indictment announced on Wednesday stated that West - also known as Kyle Northern - led an electronic group called “CyberN” that carried out hacks against more than 40 entities, including U.S. telecommunications companies, healthcare and internet service providers, and prominent government agencies such as Europol and DC Health Link, which manages health insurance for members of Congress.
West exploited the identity of “IntelBroker” to sell stolen data through dark web forums, where this data was offered in over 41 sales, along with 117 posts that leaked sensitive data, some of which was marketed for free in exchange for virtual credits.
The stolen data includes highly sensitive information such as: medical records, social security data, and marketing correspondence.
Investigations established West's connection to the digital identity by tracking a cryptocurrency purchase that was transferred to an account on Coinbase registered under his real name, in addition to evidence found in his Gmail account.
West faces four main charges, including conspiracy to hack protected systems, electronic fraud, and unauthorized access to computers, with a potential sentence of up to 50 years in prison if convicted.
This case comes at a time when cyber crimes are reaching record numbers globally, with losses from electronic fraud in the United States alone amounting to approximately $9.3 billion during 2024.
