أعلنت السلطات الإندونيسية (الأربعاء)، إلغاء أكثر من 20 رحلة جوية من وإلى جزيرة بالي السياحية، وإجراء عمليات إجلاء واسعة، إثر ثوران بركان «ليووتوبي لاكي لاكي» في جزيرة «فلوريس» شرق البلاد.
وأوضحت وكالة التخفيف من الكوارث الإندونيسية، في بيان، أن البركان تسبب في انبعاث سحابة من الرماد بلغ ارتفاعها نحو 10 كيلومترات في السماء، قبل أن يتساقط الرماد على عدد من القرى المحيطة بجبل البركان، ما استدعى إجلاء سكان إحدى القرى خلال الساعات الماضية، مشيرة إلى رصد هزات أرضية مستمرة تشير إلى أن النشاط البركاني ما زال قائماً.
وفي أعقاب الثوران، رفعت السلطات حالة التأهب إلى أعلى مستوى، ووسعت منطقة الخطر المحيطة بفوهة البركان إلى مسافة ثمانية كيلومترات، داعية السكان والسياح إلى الابتعاد حفاظاً على سلامتهم.
ووفقاً لبيانات مطار «نجوراه راي» الدولي في جزيرة «بالي»، فقد طالت الإلغاءات عدداً من الرحلات الدولية المتجهة إلى أستراليا، والصين، والهند، وماليزيا، إلى جانب عدد من الرحلات الداخلية.
ولم ترد تقارير حتى الآن عن إصابات أو أضرار مادية نتيجة الثوران، غير أن السلطات لا تزال تتابع الوضع عن كثب.
وسجل بركان «ليووتوبي لاكي لاكي» سلسلة من الثورانات العنيفة في نوفمبر الماضي، أسفرت عن مصرع تسعة أشخاص، وإجلاء آلاف السكان من المناطق المجاورة، إضافة إلى اضطراب واسع في حركة النقل الجوي تمثل في إلغاء عشرات الرحلات الجوية.
The Indonesian authorities announced on Wednesday the cancellation of more than 20 flights to and from the tourist island of Bali, and the implementation of extensive evacuation operations, following the eruption of the "Liuwotobi Lakilaki" volcano on the island of Flores in the east of the country.
The Indonesian disaster mitigation agency stated in a statement that the volcano caused a cloud of ash to rise to about 10 kilometers in the sky, before the ash fell on several villages surrounding the volcano, prompting the evacuation of residents from one of the villages in the past few hours. It noted that continuous seismic activity has been recorded, indicating that volcanic activity is still ongoing.
In the aftermath of the eruption, authorities raised the alert level to the highest status and expanded the danger zone around the volcano's crater to a distance of eight kilometers, urging residents and tourists to stay away for their safety.
According to data from Ngurah Rai International Airport on the island of Bali, the cancellations affected several international flights heading to Australia, China, India, and Malaysia, in addition to a number of domestic flights.
No reports of injuries or material damage due to the eruption have been received so far; however, authorities are still closely monitoring the situation.
The "Liuwotobi Lakilaki" volcano recorded a series of violent eruptions last November, resulting in the deaths of nine people and the evacuation of thousands of residents from nearby areas, in addition to widespread disruption in air traffic represented by the cancellation of dozens of flights.
