لقي رجل الأعمال السوداني عمر محمد عثمان (70 عاماً) مصرعه في حادث مأساوي في منطقة فيصل بمحافظة الجيزة في مصر، إثر سقوطه من الطابق العاشر داخل منور إحدى العمارات السكنية، في حادث مروع وقع مساء (الأحد)، أثناء توجهه لأداء صلاة العشاء، إذ حاول استخدام المصعد الذي كان بابه مفتوحاً دون وجود كابينة المصعد، ما أدى إلى سقوطه من ارتفاع عشرة طوابق، ليُفارق الحياة في الحال.
وتلقى قسم شرطة الهرم بلاغاً من سكان المنطقة يفيد بسقوط شخص من أحد الطوابق العلوية، وعلى الفور انتقلت قوة من رجال المباحث بقيادة العميد عمرو حجازي، رئيس قطاع غرب الجيزة، إلى مكان الحادث، وبعد المعاينة، تبين أن المتوفى هو عمر محمد عثمان، رجل أعمال سوداني معروف، وأن السبب الرئيسي للحادث هو عطل في المصعد، إذ كان الباب مفتوحاً دون وجود الكابينة، ما تسبب في الواقعة المأساوية.
تم نقل جثمان الضحية إلى ثلاجة الموتى بمستشفى الهرم تحت تصرف النيابة العامة، التي أمرت بتشريح الجثمان لتحديد أسباب الوفاة بدقة، وكلفت الجهات المختصة بفحص حالة المصعد وإعداد تقرير فني لتحديد المسؤولية الجنائية، كما تجري الأجهزة الأمنية تحريات مكثفة للوقوف على ملابسات الحادث، بما في ذلك التحقق من سجلات صيانة المصعد ومسؤولية إدارة العقار أو شركة الصيانة.
وتُعد محافظة الجيزة، التي تضم أحياء مثل فيصل والهرم، من أكثر المناطق كثافة سكانية في مصر، وتستقطب عدداً كبيراً من المقيمين، خصوصاً الجالية السودانية التي تزايدت أعدادها منذ اندلاع الصراع في السودان عام 2023 بين القوات المسلحة وقوات الدعم السريع، ويُشكل السودانيون جزءاً مهماً من النسيج الاجتماعي والاقتصادي في مصر، إذ يدير العديد منهم استثمارات في مجالات التجارة والعقارات والخدمات.
وتُعتبر حوادث المصاعد المعطلة من المشكلات المتكررة في مصر، إذ تُعاني العديد من العقارات السكنية من ضعف الصيانة وسوء إدارة المصاعد، ما يؤدي إلى وقوع ضحايا بشكل متكرر، وفي السنوات الأخيرة، شهدت مصر عدة حوادث مشابهة، منها وفاة رجل أعمال مصري في «الهرم» عام 2024 بسبب انقطاع الكهرباء وسقوطه من مصعد، وحادث آخر في منطقة الزيتون أودى بحياة شخص آخر.
The Sudanese businessman Omar Mohamed Othman (70 years old) lost his life in a tragic accident in the Faisal area of Giza Governorate in Egypt, after falling from the tenth floor inside the shaft of one of the residential buildings. The horrific incident occurred on Sunday evening while he was heading to perform the evening prayer, as he attempted to use the elevator, which had its door open without the elevator cabin, leading to his fall from a height of ten floors, resulting in his immediate death.
The Al-Haram police station received a report from residents of the area about a person falling from one of the upper floors. Immediately, a force of detectives led by Brigadier Amr Hegazy, head of the West Giza sector, moved to the scene of the accident. After inspecting the site, it was confirmed that the deceased was Omar Mohamed Othman, a well-known Sudanese businessman, and that the main cause of the accident was a malfunction in the elevator, as the door was open without the cabin, which led to this tragic incident.
The victim's body was transferred to the morgue at Al-Haram Hospital under the supervision of the public prosecution, which ordered an autopsy to accurately determine the cause of death. The relevant authorities were tasked with examining the condition of the elevator and preparing a technical report to establish criminal liability. Additionally, security agencies are conducting intensive investigations to clarify the circumstances of the accident, including verifying the elevator's maintenance records and the responsibilities of the property management or maintenance company.
Giza Governorate, which includes neighborhoods such as Faisal and Al-Haram, is one of the most densely populated areas in Egypt, attracting a large number of residents, particularly the Sudanese community, which has increased in number since the outbreak of conflict in Sudan in 2023 between the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces. Sudanese people form an important part of the social and economic fabric in Egypt, as many of them manage investments in trade, real estate, and services.
Malfunctioning elevator incidents are considered a recurring problem in Egypt, as many residential properties suffer from poor maintenance and mismanagement of elevators, leading to repeated casualties. In recent years, Egypt has witnessed several similar incidents, including the death of an Egyptian businessman in "Al-Haram" in 2024 due to a power outage and his fall from an elevator, and another incident in the Zaytoun area that claimed another person's life.
