سجلت محافظة ديالى العراقية رقماً قياسياً مقلقاً في عدد هجمات الكلاب الضالة على سكانها، حيث أصيب أكثر من 1050 شخصاً بعضات كلاب منذ بداية العام الحالي 2025، وفقاً لإحصائيات رسمية صادرة عن دائرة صحة ديالى.
وأوضحت الإحصائية الرسمية أن الضحايا، الذين يشملون أعداداً كبيرة من الأطفال، نُقلوا إلى المستشفيات في بعقوبة ومناطق أخرى بالمحافظة لتلقي العلاج، بما في ذلك لقاحات داء الكلب والرعاية الطبية العاجلة، وجعلت هذه الأرقام ديالى في صدارة المحافظات العراقية من حيث عدد الإصابات الناجمة عن الكلاب السائبة، مما أثار حالة من الذعر بين السكان.
وتشير التقارير إلى أن الكلاب الضالة تنتشر بشكل كبير في الأحياء السكنية، الأسواق، وحتى بالقرب من المدارس والدوائر الرسمية في بعقوبة، مما يشكل تهديداً مباشراً للسلامة العامة، حتى أثات واقعة مؤلمة لطفل يصارع الموت حالياً في أحد مستشفيات المحافظة بعد تعرضه لهجوم عنيف من كلب ضال، غضبا واسعا بالبلاد.
وأعلنت دائرة صحة ديالى عن تحرك عاجل لمكافحة الكلاب السائبة، بما في ذلك تكثيف حملات القنص وإبادة الكلاب في الأماكن العامة، وفقاً لقانون مكافحة الكلاب السائبة رقم 48 لسنة 1986، ومع ذلك، تواجه هذه الجهود تحديات كبيرة، منها نقص التخصيصات المالية وضعف التنسيق بين الحكومات المحلية والجهات المختصة.
وأشارت إحصائيات وزارة الزراعة العراقية لعام 2019 إلى إبادة أكثر من 55 ألف كلب ضال في 15 محافظة، لكن المشكلة عادت للظهور بقوة في ديالى بسبب الإهمال المستمر.
وتعد محافظة ديالى، إحدى المحافظات الواقعة في وسط العراق، وتُعتبر مركزاً زراعياً وتاريخياً مهماً، حيث تشتهر بوفرة بساتين النخيل والحمضيات بفضل نهر ديالى الذي يمر عبرها.
The Iraqi province of Diyala has recorded a troubling record in the number of stray dog attacks on its residents, with more than 1,050 people injured by dog bites since the beginning of the current year 2025, according to official statistics issued by the Diyala Health Directorate.
The official statistics indicated that the victims, which include a large number of children, were transferred to hospitals in Baqubah and other areas of the province for treatment, including rabies vaccinations and urgent medical care. These figures have placed Diyala at the forefront of Iraqi provinces in terms of the number of injuries caused by stray dogs, causing widespread panic among the population.
Reports indicate that stray dogs are widely spread in residential neighborhoods, markets, and even near schools and government offices in Baqubah, posing a direct threat to public safety. This has been exacerbated by a painful incident involving a child who is currently fighting for his life in one of the province's hospitals after being violently attacked by a stray dog, which has sparked widespread outrage across the country.
The Diyala Health Directorate announced an urgent move to combat stray dogs, including intensifying culling campaigns and exterminating dogs in public places, in accordance with the Stray Dog Control Law No. 48 of 1986. However, these efforts face significant challenges, including a lack of financial allocations and poor coordination between local governments and relevant authorities.
Statistics from the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture for 2019 indicated the extermination of more than 55,000 stray dogs in 15 provinces, but the problem has resurfaced strongly in Diyala due to ongoing neglect.
Diyala province, located in central Iraq, is considered an important agricultural and historical center, known for its abundance of palm and citrus orchards thanks to the Diyala River that flows through it.
