شهدت منطقة كرداسة بمحافظة الجيزة واقعة مثيرة للجدل، بعدما اتهم سكان أحد العقارات مالكه بإشعال النيران عمداً في المبنى الذي يقطنون فيه، في محاولة لإجبارهم على الإخلاء، على خلفية نزاع يتعلق بعقود «الإيجار القديم».
وبحسب شهادات السكان، فإنهم يقيمون في العقار منذ سنوات بموجب عقود إيجار قانونية وفقاً للنظام القديم، بينما يسعى المالك لإخلائه بهدف تحقيق مكاسب مادية أكبر، خصوصاً في ظل الجدل المتصاعد حول تعديل «قانون الإيجار القديم» في مصر.
وتلقت الأجهزة الأمنية بلاغاً يفيد باندلاع حريق في الطابق العلوي للعقار. وعلى الفور، هرعت قوات الحماية المدنية إلى موقع الحادث، وتمكنت من السيطرة على الحريق دون وقوع إصابات بشرية.
وباشرت الجهات المعنية التحقيق في ملابسات الواقعة، وتم الاستماع إلى أقوال الشهود، ويجري حالياً تفريغ كاميرات المراقبة المحيطة بالمكان لتحديد المسؤولية واتخاذ الإجراءات القانونية اللازمة.
وتأتي هذه الواقعة في وقت يشهد الشارع المصري نقاشات واسعة بشأن تعديل «قانون الإيجار القديم»، الذي يرى البعض أنه لم يعد يتماشى مع المتغيرات الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، بينما يطالب آخرون بالحفاظ على حقوق المستأجرين الذين استقروا في مساكنهم منذ عقود.
The Kerdasa area in Giza Governorate witnessed a controversial incident after residents of one of the buildings accused its owner of deliberately setting fire to the building they live in, in an attempt to force them to evacuate, amid a dispute related to "old rent" contracts.
According to residents' testimonies, they have been living in the building for years under legal rental contracts according to the old system, while the owner is seeking to evict them in order to achieve greater financial gains, especially in light of the escalating debate over amending the "old rent law" in Egypt.
The security authorities received a report about a fire breaking out on the upper floor of the building. Immediately, civil protection forces rushed to the scene and managed to control the fire without any human injuries.
The relevant authorities have begun investigating the circumstances of the incident, and witness statements have been taken. Currently, the surrounding surveillance cameras are being reviewed to determine responsibility and take the necessary legal actions.
This incident comes at a time when the Egyptian street is witnessing extensive discussions regarding the amendment of the "old rent law," which some believe no longer aligns with economic and social changes, while others demand the preservation of the rights of tenants who have settled in their homes for decades.
