في حادثة صادمة هزت احتفالات مشجعي ليفربول بتتويجهم بلقب الدوري الإنجليزي الممتاز، ألقت الشرطة القبض على رجل بعد أن صدم بسيارته حشداً من المشجعين في شارع ووتر ستريت بوسط المدينة.
وفقاً لموقع «mail online»، وقع الحادث مساء اليوم (الإثنين)، بعد السادسة مساء بقليل، حيث كان الآلاف يحتفلون في الشوارع بفوز فريقهم التاريخي باللقب الـ20.
وهرعت خدمات الطوارئ إلى مكان الحادث بعد تلقي بلاغات، حيث أصيب العديد من الأشخاص، وتم نقل أحدهم على نقالة، بينما شوهد آخر يتلقى الدعم من ضابط شرطة.
وأظهرت مقاطع فيديو انتشرت على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي حالة من الذعر بين المشجعين، بينما عملت الشرطة على فرض طوق أمني حول المنطقة التي امتلأت بالحطام.
وأصدرت شرطة ميرسيسايد بياناً جاء فيه: «نتعامل حالياً مع تقارير عن حادث تصادم في وسط مدينة ليفربول، تلقينا بلاغاً بعد الساعة السادسة مساء بأن سيارة اصطدمت بعدد من المشاة في شارع ووتر ستريت».
وأضافت الشرطة: «توقفت السيارة في مكان الحادث، وتم احتجاز رجل، وخدمات الطوارئ موجودة في الموقع، وسنوافيكم بالمزيد من التحديثات لاحقاً».
وأكد مجلس مدينة ليفربول أنه يتواصل مع الشرطة لمتابعة تطورات الحادث، بينما أعلنت هيئة الإسعاف في شمال غرب إنجلترا أنها تقدم الدعم في الموقع، مع التركيز على تقديم الرعاية الطبية للمصابين بأسرع وقت ممكن.
كان موكب التتويج قد انطلق في وقت سابق من اليوم، حيث قاد نجوم الفريق مثل فان دايك وصلاح الحافلة المزينة بكلمة «الأبطال» وصورة كأس الدوري الإنجليزي.
وسلك الموكب مساراً بطول 10 أميال، بدأ من أليرتون ميز واتجه شمالاً عبر طريق كوينز درايف، وسط إغلاق العديد من الطرق لتأمين الاحتفال.
وعلى الرغم من تحذيرات مجلس المدينة من استخدام السيارات، إلا أن الحادث المؤسف حوّل يوم الفرح إلى مأساة.

According to mail online, the incident occurred this evening (Monday), shortly after six o'clock, as thousands were celebrating in the streets their historic team's 20th title win.
Emergency services rushed to the scene after receiving reports, where several people were injured, and one was seen being carried on a stretcher, while another was seen receiving support from a police officer.
Videos circulating on social media showed scenes of panic among the fans, while police worked to establish a security cordon around the area filled with debris.
Merseyside Police issued a statement saying: "We are currently dealing with reports of a collision in Liverpool city center. We received a report after six o'clock that a car had collided with a number of pedestrians on Water Street."
The police added: "The car stopped at the scene, a man has been detained, and emergency services are on site. We will provide further updates later."
The Liverpool City Council confirmed it is in contact with the police to monitor developments regarding the incident, while the North West Ambulance Service announced it is providing support at the scene, focusing on delivering medical care to the injured as quickly as possible.
The victory parade had started earlier in the day, with stars of the team like Van Dijk and Salah leading the bus adorned with the word "Champions" and an image of the Premier League trophy.
The parade took a route of 10 miles, starting from Allerton Maze and heading north along Queens Drive, with many roads closed to secure the celebration.
Despite the city council's warnings against using cars, the unfortunate incident turned a day of joy into tragedy.
Both the Prime Minister and Home Secretary Yvette Cooper are closely monitoring the developments of the incident.
