في حادث مأساوي هزّ منطقة غرب كولومبيا، لقي 9 أشخاص على الأقل مصرعهم وأصيب 7 آخرون جراء انقلاب حافلة كانت تقل طلاباً جامعيين وأساتذتهم خلال رحلة ترفيهية.
ووقع الحادث بين منطقتي توليما وكوينديو، حيث فقد سائق الحافلة السيطرة على المركبة، ما أدى إلى انحرافها وانقلابها، وفق ما أفادت الشرطة المحلية، حيث كانت الحافلة تقل 26 راكباً، بينهم طلاب من جامعة محلية وأساتذتهم، في رحلة ميدانية تهدف إلى تعزيز الأنشطة التعليمية والترفيهية.
وبحسب بيان صادر عن مدير جامعة هامبولت في مدينة أرمينيا الكولومبية دييجو فرناندو جاراميلو لوبيز، كان الركاب (22 طالباً، ومعلمان، ومسؤول اتصالات) في طريقهم لإجراء تدريبات عملية عندما وقع الحادث، وهرعت فرق الإنقاذ والإسعاف إلى موقع الحادث لتقديم الإسعافات الأولية ونقل المصابين إلى المستشفيات القريبة، حيث لا يزال بعضهم في حالة حرجة.
وأشار قائد الشرطة لويس فرناندو أتويستا إلى أن التحقيقات جارية لتحديد الأسباب الدقيقة للحادث، وسط تكهنات بأن عوامل مثل حالة الطريق أو السرعة الزائدة قد تكون ساهمت في الكارثة.
يُذكر أن حوادث الطرق تُعد من التحديات الكبرى في كولومبيا، حيث سجّل البلد معدل 22 وفاة يومياً في حوادث الطرق خلال عام 2024، ما يسلط الضوء على الحاجة الملحة لتعزيز تدابير السلامة المرورية.

The accident occurred between the Tolima and Quindío regions, where the bus driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off and overturn, according to local police. The bus was carrying 26 passengers, including students from a local university and their professors, on a field trip aimed at enhancing educational and recreational activities.
According to a statement issued by the director of Humboldt University in the Colombian city of Armenia, Diego Fernando Garamillo López, the passengers (22 students, 2 teachers, and a communications officer) were on their way to conduct practical training when the accident occurred. Rescue and ambulance teams rushed to the scene to provide first aid and transport the injured to nearby hospitals, where some remain in critical condition.
Police chief Luis Fernando Atuesta indicated that investigations are underway to determine the exact causes of the accident, amid speculation that factors such as road conditions or speeding may have contributed to the disaster.
It is worth noting that road accidents are one of the major challenges in Colombia, where the country recorded an average of 22 deaths daily in road accidents during the year 2024, highlighting the urgent need to enhance traffic safety measures.
