أضافت قوقل خلال مؤتمرها السنوي I/O 2025 ميزة مدعومة بالذكاء الاصطناعي تتيح لمستخدمي خدمة الاجتماعات والمكالمات عبر الإنترنت Google Meet الحصول على ترجمة صوتية فورية، ما يسهل التواصل بين المستخدمين ذوي اللغات المختلفة في الاجتماعات والمكالمات.
وتعتمد الميزة الجديدة على نموذج Gemini لتقديم ترجمة صوتية تحاكي صوت المتحدث الأصلي ونبرته وتعبيراته، لتبدو كأنها صادرة عنه مباشرة. وفي العرض التوضيحي الذي قدمته قوقل ظهر مستخدم يتحدث الإنجليزية في أثناء مكالمة مع مستخدم آخر يتحدث الإسبانية، وبمجرد تفعيل ميزة الترجمة بدأت خدمة Meet دبلجة الحديث تلقائياً إلى الإنجليزية مع الحفاظ على تفاصيل الصوت الأصلية.
وتُعد هذه الخطوة منافسة مباشرة لميزة مماثلة أعلنتها مايكروسوفت في وقت سابق من هذا العام لمنصة Teams، ما يعكس السباق المتزايد بين الشركتين في مجال تحسين أدوات العمل التعاوني.
وفي المرحلة الحالية، تدعم الميزة الترجمة بين الإنجليزية والإسبانية فقط، لكن قوقل تخطط لإضافة دعم كلٍ من الإيطالية والألمانية والبرتغالية خلال الأسابيع القادمة، وفقاً لما أعلنته خلال المؤتمر.
وبدأ طرح الميزة تدريجياً لمشتركي الخدمة، ومن المنتظر وصولها إلى المؤسسات والشركات في وقت لاحق من العام الحالي.
ويتوقع أن تُحدث هذه الميزة الجديدة تأثيراً كبيراً في طريقة عمل الفرق المتعددة الجنسيات والشركات ذات الانتشار العالمي، إذ ستسهم في إزالة أحد أكبر العوائق أمام التواصل الفعّال، وهو اختلاف اللغة، كما ستسمح للجميع من مختلف الخلفيات اللغوية بالمشاركة بثقة أكبر في النقاشات واتخاذ القرارات.
Google added an AI-powered feature during its annual I/O 2025 conference that allows users of the online meeting and calling service Google Meet to receive real-time voice translation, facilitating communication among users who speak different languages during meetings and calls.
The new feature relies on the Gemini model to provide voice translation that mimics the original speaker's voice, tone, and expressions, making it sound as if it is coming directly from them. In the demonstration presented by Google, a user speaking English was shown during a call with another user speaking Spanish, and as soon as the translation feature was activated, the Meet service automatically dubbed the speech into English while preserving the original voice details.
This move directly competes with a similar feature announced by Microsoft earlier this year for its Teams platform, reflecting the increasing race between the two companies in enhancing collaborative work tools.
Currently, the feature supports translation only between English and Spanish, but Google plans to add support for Italian, German, and Portuguese in the coming weeks, as announced during the conference.
The feature is being gradually rolled out to service subscribers, and it is expected to reach institutions and companies later this year.
This new feature is expected to have a significant impact on how multinational teams and globally dispersed companies operate, as it will help eliminate one of the biggest barriers to effective communication, which is language differences, and will allow everyone from diverse linguistic backgrounds to participate more confidently in discussions and decision-making.
