حذر مدرب المنتخب الإسباني لويس دي لا فوينتي من خطورة منتخب الرأس الأخضر قبل المواجهة التي تجمع الطرفين في افتتاح مشوارهما ضمن منافسات كأس العالم 2026، مؤكداً أن المنافس يملك مقومات تسمح له بصناعة المفاجآت خلال البطولة.
وأوضح دي لا فوينتي خلال المؤتمر الصحفي الذي يسبق اللقاء أن منتخب الرأس الأخضر يضم عدداً من اللاعبين المحترفين في الدوريات الأوروبية، ويملك إمكانات فنية تستوجب التعامل معه بكل جدية، مشدداً على أن المنتخب الإسباني يركز بشكل كامل على المباراة الأولى دون الالتفات إلى ما بعدها.
وفي الجانب الفني طمأن المدرب الإسباني جماهير منتخب بلاده بشأن حالة لاعبيه، مؤكداً جاهزية جميع العناصر التي عانت من إصابات أو برامج تأهيلية خلال الأيام الماضية، وفي مقدمتهم لامين يامال ونيكو ويليامز، اللذان شاركا بصورة طبيعية في التدريبات الجماعية الأخيرة.
وأشار إلى أن المنافسة بين اللاعبين على المراكز الأساسية، بما في ذلك مركز حراسة المرمى، تصب في مصلحة المنتخب وتمنح الجهاز الفني خيارات متعددة قبل انطلاق البطولة.

Spain's national team coach Luis de la Fuente warned about the dangers posed by the Cape Verde national team ahead of their encounter in the opening match of their journey in the 2026 World Cup, emphasizing that the opponent has the qualities that allow them to create surprises during the tournament.
De la Fuente explained during the press conference preceding the match that the Cape Verde national team includes several professional players in European leagues, and possesses technical capabilities that require serious attention, stressing that the Spanish team is fully focused on the first match without looking ahead to what comes after.
On the technical side, the Spanish coach reassured his country's fans regarding the condition of his players, confirming the readiness of all the squad members who had suffered from injuries or rehabilitation programs in recent days, notably Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, who participated normally in the last group training sessions.
He pointed out that the competition among players for key positions, including the goalkeeper position, benefits the team and provides the coaching staff with multiple options before the tournament kicks off.
