تأهل الملاكم السعودي نايف الغزواني إلى دورة الألعاب الأولمبية للشباب، المقرر إقامتها في العاصمة السنغالية داكار خلال الفترة من 31 أكتوبر إلى 13 نوفمبر 2026، في إنجاز تاريخي يُضاف إلى سجل الرياضة السعودية، ليصبح أول لاعب سعودي يتأهل إلى هذا الحدث الأولمبي في منافسات الملاكمة.
وجاء تأهل الغزواني بعد برنامج إعدادي متكامل نفذه الاتحاد السعودي للملاكمة، شمل إقامة عدد من البطولات المحلية واكتشاف المواهب من خلال بطولة «حزام المملكة» للفئات السنية، التي أسهمت في إبراز مجموعة من اللاعبين الواعدين، قبل اختيار نخبة منهم للانضمام إلى برنامج تطويري مكثف.
وخضع اللاعبون ضمن البرنامج لمعسكر تدريبي في نادي مايك تايسون، تحت إشراف مدربين متخصصين يمثلون الاتحاد السعودي للملاكمة، قبل استكمال مراحل الإعداد عبر معسكر خارجي في تايلند، ضمن خطة فنية وبدنية تهدف إلى رفع مستوى الجاهزية وتعزيز الخبرات الدولية.
وتُوّجت هذه الجهود بالمشاركة في بطولة World Boxing U19 Future Cup، إذ تمكن الغزواني من تحقيق الفوز على الملاكم الإيطالي فرانشيسكو زونيلي، خلال مشاركته مع المنتخب السعودي، ليحسم بطاقة التأهل إلى أولمبياد الشباب.
ويعكس هذا الإنجاز حجم العمل والتطوير الذي تشهده رياضة الملاكمة في المملكة، ويؤكد حضورها المتنامي على الساحة الدولية.
Saudi boxer Naif Al-Ghazwani has qualified for the Youth Olympic Games, scheduled to be held in the Senegalese capital Dakar from October 31 to November 13, 2026, in a historic achievement added to the record of Saudi sports, becoming the first Saudi athlete to qualify for this Olympic event in boxing competitions.
Al-Ghazwani's qualification came after a comprehensive training program implemented by the Saudi Boxing Federation, which included holding several local tournaments and discovering talents through the "Kingdom Belt" championship for various age categories, which helped highlight a group of promising players, before selecting a few of them to join an intensive development program.
The players in the program underwent a training camp at the Mike Tyson Club, under the supervision of specialized coaches representing the Saudi Boxing Federation, before completing the preparation stages through an external camp in Thailand, as part of a technical and physical plan aimed at raising the level of readiness and enhancing international experiences.
These efforts culminated in participation in the World Boxing U19 Future Cup, where Al-Ghazwani managed to win against Italian boxer Francesco Zonelli during his participation with the Saudi national team, securing a qualification spot for the Youth Olympics.
This achievement reflects the extent of work and development that boxing in the Kingdom is witnessing, and confirms its growing presence on the international stage.
