أبدى الإيطالي روبرتو مانشيني، المدير الفني لفريق نادي السد، ارتياحه لبلوغ فريقه دور الـ16 في بطولة دوري أبطال آسيا للنخبة، مؤكداً في الوقت ذاته أن المرحلة القادمة ستفرض تحديات أكثر تعقيداً، لا سيما مع مواجهة نادي الهلال السعودي.
وجاء تأهل السد رغم خسارته الثقيلة 1-4 أمام ضيفه نادي الاتحاد، في ختام مرحلة «الدوري» لمجموعة الغرب، حيث أنهى الفريق القطري مشواره في المركز الثامن برصيد 8 نقاط، جمعها من انتصارين وتعادلين مقابل 4 هزائم. غير أن نتائج الجولة ذاتها خدمت السد، بعدما سقط نادي الغرافة أمام ضيفه نادي تراكتور الإيراني بهدفين دون رد، ليحسم السد بطاقة العبور إلى الأدوار الإقصائية.
وفي تصريحاته التي نقلها الموقع الرسمي للاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم، قال مانشيني: «نحن سعداء بالتأهل إلى الدور التالي، رغم عدم رضانا عن نتيجة المباراة. الفريق تجاوز صعوبات كبيرة، خصوصاً في بداية هذه النسخة، وتمكن من تحقيق الهدف». وأضاف: «الأندية السعودية هي الأقوى حالياً في البطولة، وهذا أمر طبيعي في ظل ما تمتلكه من إمكانات. أمامنا أسبوعان للاستعداد، وسنقيّم جاهزيتنا قبل خوض مواجهة ستكون بلا شك أكثر صعوبة».
وبين نشوة التأهل ومرارة الخسارة، يقف السد أمام اختبار حقيقي في الأدوار الإقصائية، حيث تتداخل الحسابات الفنية مع واقع المنافسة المتصاعد في بطولة تشهد تفوقاً واضحاً للأندية السعودية في نسختها الحالية.

In his statements reported by the official website of the Asian Football Confederation, Mancini said: "We are happy to qualify for the next round, despite our dissatisfaction with the match result. The team has overcome significant difficulties, especially at the beginning of this edition, and managed to achieve the goal." He added: "Saudi clubs are currently the strongest in the tournament, which is natural given their capabilities. We have two weeks to prepare, and we will assess our readiness before facing a match that will undoubtedly be more difficult."
