Sorrow cast a shadow over the sports community with the news of the death of Captain Abdullah Al-Zaid, former goalkeeper of Al-Riyadh Club, last Friday. The prayer was held for him on Saturday at Prince Fahd bin Mohammed Mosque on Al-Ha'ir Road, and he was buried in Al-Mansoura Cemetery.
The player, who represented Al-Riyadh Club between 2013 and 2015, passed away after suffering from an illness that lasted nearly a month and a half, following a strong virus infection he contracted after returning from Mecca, where he accompanied his mother to perform Umrah. He subsequently experienced a health crisis that did not give him much time.
Sorrow enveloped the sports community after the news of his death, and his colleagues and fans remembered his athletic career and high morals both on and off the field, praying to Allah, the Almighty, to envelop his soul in His vast mercy, grant him a place in His spacious paradise, and inspire his family and loved ones with patience and solace.
