اختتمت أمس، بطولة الاتحاد السعودي للرياضة الجامعية للشطرنج (طالبات) ضمن موسمها الرياضي السادس عشر، التي استضافتها جامعة جدة، بمشاركة أكثر من 30 جامعة وكلية.
وحققت جامعة طيبة المركز الأول، وحلت جامعة حائل في المركز الثاني، وثالثاً جامعة الأميرة نورة بنت عبدالرحمن, حيث توجت مديرة البطولة الدكتورة نوف الحماد, الجامعات الفائزة في حفل الختام, مشيدةً بالمستوى الفني الذي شهدته البطولة, التي تُعد الأولى في روزنامة اتحاد الجامعات ضمن موسه الـ16, وذلك في إطار خططه لتوسيع قاعدة الألعاب الجامعية، وإتاحة الفرصة للطالبات للتنافس في مختلف الرياضات الذهنية والبدنية، بما يعزز حضور الجامعات السعودية في المحافل الرياضية.
وقالت: «إقامة بطولة الاتحاد السعودي للرياضة الجامعية للشطرنج تأتي امتدادًا لجهود الاتحاد في تمكين الطالبات وصقل مهاراتهن الرياضية والفكرية، إيمانًا منه بأن الرياضة ليست مجرد منافسة، بل هي أسلوب حياة يرسخ قيم الشغف والانضباط وروح الفريق لدى الطالبات، ويمنحهن الفرصة للتعبير عن قدراتهن وإبراز إمكاناتهن، وما نشهده اليوم من حماس وتفاعل يؤكد أن الاستثمار في الرياضة الجامعية هو استثمار في مستقبل واعد لجيل مبدع وطموح».

The Saudi University Sports Federation's Chess Championship (for female students) concluded yesterday as part of its sixteenth sports season, hosted by the University of Jeddah, with the participation of more than 30 universities and colleges.
Prince Taibah University achieved first place, while Hail University secured second place, and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University came in third. The championship director, Dr. Nawaf Al-Hammad, awarded the winning universities during the closing ceremony, praising the technical level witnessed in the championship, which is the first in the university federation's calendar for its 16th season. This is part of its plans to expand the base of university sports and provide opportunities for female students to compete in various mental and physical sports, enhancing the presence of Saudi universities in sports events.
She stated, "The establishment of the Saudi University Sports Federation's Chess Championship is a continuation of the federation's efforts to empower female students and refine their athletic and intellectual skills, believing that sports is not just competition, but a way of life that instills values of passion, discipline, and teamwork among female students, giving them the opportunity to express their abilities and showcase their potential. The enthusiasm and interaction we witness today confirm that investing in university sports is an investment in a promising future for a creative and ambitious generation."
