The "Okaz" newspaper learned from informed sources that the management of Al-Safa Club is racing against time to put an end to the financial crisis and the accumulated debts, which have reached 25 million after the current administration took over from its predecessor with 14 million in the club's treasury. The sources indicate that the management has opened negotiations with all the players within the club to convince them to waive 40% of their overdue payments since the beginning of the season, and to dissuade them from filing official complaints with the Ministry of Sports and the sports federations so that their new contracts are not halted.
Additionally, the Saudi Handball Federation issued 5 penalties last month requiring the club to pay financial amounts to the complaining players through the Dispute Resolution Committee, alongside the Saudi Football Federation, which issued a decision to prevent the first football team from registering players until the required amounts are paid.
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Sports opened files on some clubs last week and reviewed some financial violations, forming committees to address them before making decisive decisions and referring those responsible to the relevant authorities. The ministry dissolved the board of directors of Ahli Club and is awaiting the report from the committee currently in Medina to study the club's situation from all aspects after the setbacks it has faced recently, including the relegation of the first basketball team to the first division, which is considered one of the pillars of the game in the Kingdom, having achieved 42 local and Gulf championships, and the transfer of its stars to competing clubs, while the football team was relegated to the second division due to the financial conditions at the club, the management's inability to renew player contracts, and the accumulation of debts, as well as its inability to contract with coaches and players due to the ban imposed by FIFA and the International Basketball Federation.
