حقق لاعب المنتخب السعودي للتايكوندو خالد الشهراني، الميدالية البرونزية، بعد حلوله في المركز الثالث في منافسات وزن تحت (45) كجم لفئة الشباب، ضمن بطولة آسيا للتايكوندو، المقامة حالياً في مدينة كوتشنج الماليزية.
وجاء تتويج الشهراني بالميدالية البرونزية بعد سلسلة من العروض القوية، إذ استهل مشواره بالفوز على لاعب منتخب تايلند، ثم تجاوز نزالاً حاسماً أمام منافسه من منغوليا، قبل أن يتوقف مشواره في الدور نصف النهائي أمام لاعب كازاخستان، الذي نال لاحقاً الميدالية الذهبية.
من جانبه، عبّر رئيس الاتحاد السعودي للتايكوندو المكلف أحمد الصبان، عن فخره بهذا الإنجاز القاري، مؤكّداً أنه يُجسد ثمار الدعم الكبير الذي يحظى به القطاع الرياضي من القيادة الرشيدة.
ويأتي هذا الإنجاز امتداداً لسلسلة من النجاحات التي حققها لاعبو المنتخب السعودي للتايكوندو في المحافل الدولية، تأكيداً للمكانة المتصاعدة للمملكة على خريطة الرياضات القتالية القارية والعالمية.

The Saudi national taekwondo player Khalid Al-Shahrani achieved the bronze medal after finishing in third place in the under (45) kg weight category for youth, during the Asian Taekwondo Championship currently held in Kuching, Malaysia.
Al-Shahrani's bronze medal came after a series of strong performances, as he began his journey by defeating a player from the Thailand national team, then overcame a crucial match against his opponent from Mongolia, before his journey came to a halt in the semifinals against a player from Kazakhstan, who later won the gold medal.
For his part, the acting president of the Saudi Taekwondo Federation, Ahmed Al-Sabban, expressed his pride in this continental achievement, affirming that it embodies the fruits of the significant support that the sports sector receives from the wise leadership.
This achievement continues a series of successes that the Saudi national taekwondo players have achieved in international arenas, confirming the Kingdom's rising status on the map of continental and global combat sports.
