One of the Brazilian clubs participating in the FIFA Club World Cup is moving to attract the Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, the Al-Nassr striker, to represent it during the upcoming edition of the tournament, which will be held in the United States in mid-next month.
The Spanish newspaper "Marca" reported in a report referenced by Al Arabiya channel that the name of the concerned team has not been disclosed, but it enjoys direct support from external investors who are seeking to finalize the deal, which would provide Ronaldo with a new opportunity to appear in one of the most prominent global events.
The list of Brazilian clubs participating in the tournament includes: Palmeiras, Botafogo, Fluminense, and Flamengo, while the competitions officially kick off on June 15.
This news comes at a critical time for the Portuguese star, as his team Al-Nassr finished the season without winning any titles, and also failed to secure a spot in the upcoming AFC Champions League.
The Spanish newspaper believes that the Brazilian offer could be tempting for Ronaldo, especially since the FIFA Club World Cup represents a significant incentive for him at this advanced stage of his professional career, as he has turned 40.
During the current season, Ronaldo played 39 matches in various competitions wearing the Al-Nassr jersey, scoring 33 goals, noting that he has only won one title since joining the team in the winter of 2023, which is the Arab Club Champions Cup.
After Al-Nassr's exit from the semifinals of the AFC Champions League against Kawasaki Frontale, the Portuguese star appeared in a state of sadness and agitation, as fans circulated a video clip of him standing in the middle of the field, shaking his shoulders repeatedly, then placing his hands on his hips and looking up at the sky, in a scene that reflected deep disappointment.
It is worth mentioning that Al-Ahli Saudi FC is the one that won the Asian championship, while Ronaldo's dream of continental trophy celebrations remains postponed.
