The Executive Director of the Saudi Swimming Federation, Dr. Ziad Abu Al-Hamael, congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and the Crown Prince, Prince Mohammed bin Salman - may Allah protect them - on achieving the first Saudi gold medal in the history of Saudi swimming at the Youth Olympic Games, through swimmer Bilal Al-Rahmouni.
This historic achievement came after Al-Rahmouni won the 400m freestyle race, as part of the fourth Youth Olympic Games "Dakar 2026," hosted by the Senegalese capital, Dakar, where he recorded a time of 3 minutes and 47.86 seconds.
Al-Rahmouni outperformed the Russian Bogdan Toropkin, who finished second with a time of 3 minutes and 50.44 seconds, and the Mexican Daniel Saborio Grillo, who came in third with a time of 3 minutes and 53.72 seconds.
Abu Al-Hamael stated: "The support of the Saudi leadership for all vital sectors in general and sports in particular has placed us in the right position and at the forefront of the countries that are advanced in sports."
He praised the support and follow-up of Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki, the Minister of Sports and President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and his deputy, Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaid, which contributed to this Olympic achievement, explaining that what has been accomplished is the result of a team that works day and night with great passion and ambition to build a system worthy of Saudi sports, led by the President of the Federation and the council members, along with the technical and administrative staff.
It is noteworthy that this medal is the first of its kind for Saudi swimming in the history of the Kingdom's participation in the Olympic Games in general, and the second for the Saudi team in terms of gold medals in the history of the Games, following the karate gold medal at the Youth Olympic Games "Buenos Aires 2018."
