The Board of Directors of the Public Transport Authority has approved amendments to the executive regulations for educational transport activities, which stipulate the organization of the operational lifespan of buses, conditions for its extension, and regulations for issuing and periodically inspecting operating cards, with the aim of enhancing safety and the quality of services provided to students.

Among the most notable new amendments to the executive regulations:

• Operational lifespan of buses: The maximum operational lifespan of a bus has been amended to ten years from the year of manufacture (instead of 12 years previously).
• Conditions and regulations for extension: Exceptionally from the previous article, the operational lifespan of buses that have obtained an operating card may be extended according to the following regulations:

- Large capacity buses (more than 15 passengers): The maximum operational lifespan becomes 15 years.

- Limited capacity buses (not exceeding 15 passengers): The maximum operational lifespan becomes 12 years.

- Periodic inspection: To extend the operational lifespan, passing the periodic technical inspection every 6 months from the date the bus exceeds 10 years from the year of manufacture is required.

• Validity period of the operating card:

- One year: for buses that have not exceeded the stipulated operational lifespan.

- 6 months: for buses whose operational lifespan has been extended.

The validity of the card is always linked to the expiration of the license or the driving license or the periodic technical inspection certificate (whichever comes first).

• Scope of operation for extended buses: The activity may only be practiced with buses whose operational lifespan has been extended within the city of the license.
• Implementation date: The provisions of these amendments will take effect after 60 days.
