استهل المنتخب الإماراتي مشواره في خليجي 27 بفوز كبير على نظيره اليمني 4-0، في اللقاء الذي جمعهما على استاد مدينة الملك عبدالله الرياضية بجدة لحساب المجموعة الثانية.
افتتح نيكولاس خيمينيز التسجيل للأبيض في الدقيقة 26 بعد تمريرة من برونو أوليفيرا، قبل أن يضيف مدافع اليمن نادر سهل الهدف الثاني بالخطأ في مرماه في الدقيقة 36 إثر تسديدة مارك ميلوني.
وفي الوقت بدل الضائع من الشوط الأول عزز لوان بيريرا التقدم بالهدف الثالث في الدقيقة 45+4 بعد جملة تكتيكية بدأها علاء الدين زهير.
وواصل الأبيض هيمنته في الشوط الثاني وأضاف خيمينيز الهدف الرابع والثاني له شخصياً برأسية متقنة بعد عرضية يوري سيلفا في الدقيقة 52.
وحصد المنتخب الإماراتي أول 3 نقاط ليتصدر المجموعة الثانية مؤقتاً بانتظار مواجهة قطر والبحرين، فيما قدم بداية مثالية بقيادة مدربه الكرواتي زلاتكو داليتش، الذي أجرى عدة تغييرات بعد الاطمئنان للنتيجة، بينما لم ينجح المنتخب اليمني في تقليص الفارق رغم تحسن أدائه نسبياً.

In stoppage time of the first half, Luan Pereira extended the lead with the third goal in the 45+4 minute after a tactical play initiated by Alaa Al-Din Zuhair.
The Whites continued their dominance in the second half, with Jimenez scoring the fourth goal and his second personally with a precise header following a cross from Yuri Silva in the 52nd minute.
The UAE national team earned its first 3 points, temporarily topping Group B while awaiting the match between Qatar and Bahrain, and it marked an ideal start under the leadership of Croatian coach Zlatko Dalic, who made several substitutions after being assured of the result, while the Yemeni team failed to reduce the deficit despite a relatively improved performance.
