شهدت مواجهة فريق الهلال أمام نظيره الغرافة القطري حصول اللاعب سامرفيل على البطاقة الحمراء الأولى في مسيرته الاحترافية مع كافة الأندية التي مثلها، وشهدت المواجهة الافتتاحية لدور المجموعات في دوري أبطال آسيا لأندية النخبة دخول النجم الشاب سامرفيل في مشاجرة مع لاعب الغرافة إسماعيل بن ناصر عند الدقيقة 32، ليضطر حكم المباراة لإشهار البطاقة الحمراء للاعبين.
وكان سجل الهولندي سامرفيل نظيفاً من البطاقات الحمراء طوال مسيرته الاحترافية، فيما حصل طوال مسيرته على 21 بطاقة صفراء.
بدأ سامرفيل مسيرته الاحترافية مع فريق فينورد الهولندي قبل أن ينتقل بين أندية أدو دين هاغ ودوردريخت وليدز يونايتد الإنجليزي ووست هام الإنجليزي، وأخيراً انضم لصفوف الهلال مطلع الموسم الحالي.
