The French club Lens, where Saudi star Saud Abdulhamid plays, announced today (Tuesday) the termination of its contract with its German coach Dino Toppmöller.
The club stated in a statement on its official website: "In an atmosphere of mutual respect, the French club Lens and coach Dino Toppmöller have decided to terminate their contract by mutual agreement."
Reason for Contract Termination
The statement added: "Following a series of discussions regarding the group's situation, work mechanisms, and the organization of the coaching staff, Lens informed its coach of its desire to restructure the staff. However, due to Dino Toppmöller's inability to align with these structural changes, the club, based on its responsibility, decided to terminate his mission, along with the missions of his assistants."
Temporary Replacement
The statement concluded: "Yannick Cahuzac will lead Lens from the bench during the team's match against Monaco."
Toppmöller's Journey with Lens
Toppmöller led Lens in only six matches, starting with winning the French Super Cup against Paris Saint-Germain with a score of 1-0. He played four matches in Ligue 1, achieving only one win, one draw, and two losses.
In the UEFA Champions League, the German coach led Lens to victory over Czech club Slavia Prague 3-2 in the first round of the group stage.
Absence of Saud
It is worth noting that Saud Abdulhamid has been absent from participating with Lens in the last four matches due to injury, and since his absence, the team has achieved only one victory.
