وذكرت شبكة «فوت ميركاتو» الفرنسية أن رحيل والد الأسطورة الأرجنتينية ترك فراغاً كبيراً في حياة اللاعب، إذ لم يكن خورخي ميسي مجرد أب، بل كان أول مستشار وممثل وداعم لابنه منذ بداياته في عالم كرة القدم.
وأثّر رحيله في ميسي بشكل عميق، لا سيما أن اللاعب لطالما حافظ على علاقة وثيقة للغاية بوالده، الذي رافقه ودعمه طوال مسيرته الكروية الحافلة بالإنجازات.
