شهدت بطولة كأس العالم 2026 ارتفاعاً في عدد البطاقات الحمراء، بعدما وصل إجمالي حالات الطرد إلى 14 بطاقة حتى الآن، لتحتل النسخة الحالية المركز السابع في قائمة أكثر النسخ التي شهدت بطاقات حمراء في تاريخ البطولة.
ولا تزال نسخة مونديال 2006 تتصدر القائمة بـ28 بطاقة حمراء، تليها نسخة 1998 بـ22 بطاقة، ثم نسختا 2002 و2010 بـ17 بطاقة لكل منهما، بينما جاءت نسخة 1990 في المركز الرابع بـ16 بطاقة، ثم مونديال 1994 بـ15 بطاقة.
وبوصول مونديال 2026 إلى 14 حالة طرد، تتجاوز البطولة نسخاً عديدة، أبرزها 2014 التي شهدت 10 بطاقات حمراء، و1986 بـ8 بطاقات، و1962 بـ6 بطاقات، فيما سجلت نسخ 1966 و1974 و1982 خمس بطاقات لكل منها، مقابل أربع بطاقات فقط في نسخ 1938 و2018 و2022.
وبلغ إجمالي البطاقات الحمراء في تاريخ كأس العالم 191 بطاقة، في مؤشر يعكس الطابع التنافسي والحماس الكبير الذي تشهده البطولة عبر مختلف نسخها، مع إمكانية ارتفاع هذا الرقم في مونديال 2026 مع تبقي مباريات الدور نصف النهائي، ومباراة تحديد المركز الثالث، والنهائي.
