فيما نددت البحرين بالاعتداءات الإيرانية، حذّر الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة أنطونيو غوتيريش، اليوم (الأحد)، من أن تجدد المواجهات العسكرية بين إيران والولايات المتحدة ستكون له عواقب وخيمة على السلام والأمن الدوليين وعلى الاقتصاد العالمي.
وقال غوتيريش في بيان: «أشعر بقلق بالغ إزاء التصعيد الخطير وتجدد المواجهات العسكرية في الخليج، بما في ذلك الهجمات الإيرانية على السفن في مضيق هرمز، والهجمات الأمريكية على إيران، والهجمات الإيرانية على أهداف في الدول المجاورة».
وطالب غوتيريش بوقف هذه الهجمات فوراً، داعياً واشنطن وطهران إلى استئناف المفاوضات بشكل عاجل ومعالجة القضايا العالقة عبر القنوات الدبلوماسية.
بدورها، دانت وزارة الخارجية البحرينية، اليوم، استمرار الهجمات الإيرانية على أراضيها والإمارات، والكويت، وقطر، وسلطنة عُمان، والأردن، مؤكدة أن هذه الاعتداءات تمثل تصعيداً خطيراً يهدد أمن المنطقة واستقرارها.
وقالت الخارجية البحرينية، في بيان، إن «الهجمات الإيرانية تشكل انتهاكاً صارخاً لسيادة الدول وسلامة أراضيها، وخرقاً جسيماً لقواعد القانون الدولي، وميثاق الأمم المتحدة، وميثاق منظمة التعاون الإسلامي، وقرار مجلس الأمن رقم 2817 ومبادئ حسن الجوار».
وشددت الوزارة على حق البحرين والدول الأخرى في اتخاذ جميع الإجراءات المشروعة للدفاع عن سيادتها وأمنها واستقرارها، وحماية المواطنين والمقيمين على أراضيها، وفقاً لأحكام القانون الدولي وميثاق الأمم المتحدة واتفاقية الدفاع المشترك لدول مجلس التعاون الخليجي مع التزامها بأعلى درجات ضبط النفس والحرص على تسوية النزاعات عن طريق الحوار والسبل السلمية.
وجددت وزارة الخارجية دعوة البحرين للمجتمع الدولي، لا سيما مجلس الأمن، إلى تحمل مسؤولياته القانونية واتخاذ إجراءات حازمة ورادعة إزاء تمادي إيران في اعتداءاتها على دول المنطقة.
While Bahrain condemned the Iranian attacks, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned today (Sunday) that a resurgence of military confrontations between Iran and the United States would have dire consequences for international peace and security and the global economy.
Guterres stated in a statement: "I am deeply concerned about the serious escalation and resurgence of military confrontations in the Gulf, including Iranian attacks on ships in the Strait of Hormuz, American attacks on Iran, and Iranian attacks on targets in neighboring countries."
Guterres called for an immediate halt to these attacks, urging Washington and Tehran to urgently resume negotiations and address outstanding issues through diplomatic channels.
For its part, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned today the continued Iranian attacks on its territory and that of the UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, and Jordan, emphasizing that these aggressions represent a serious escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region.
The Bahraini Foreign Ministry stated in a statement that "the Iranian attacks constitute a blatant violation of the sovereignty of states and the integrity of their territories, a serious breach of international law, the UN Charter, the Charter of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Security Council Resolution 2817, and the principles of good neighborliness."
The ministry emphasized Bahrain's and other countries' right to take all legitimate measures to defend their sovereignty, security, and stability, and to protect citizens and residents on their territories, in accordance with the provisions of international law, the UN Charter, and the mutual defense agreement of the Gulf Cooperation Council, while committing to the highest levels of restraint and ensuring the resolution of disputes through dialogue and peaceful means.
The Foreign Ministry renewed Bahrain's call to the international community, especially the Security Council, to assume its legal responsibilities and take decisive and deterrent actions regarding Iran's continued aggression against the countries of the region.
