تحولت أجواء البهجة والموسيقى في أحد مهرجانات رقص «السالسا» الشهيرة بمدينة تورونتو الكندية إلى ليلة من الرعب والفزع، إثر قيام مسلح بإطلاق النار وسط منطقة تنبض بالحياة وتزخر بالمتاجر والمطاعم، مخلّفاً وراءه قتيلين وخمسة جرحى، ليقلب صخب الاحتفال إلى صدمة إنسانية مروعة.
وفي تفاصيل الحادثة، سارعت الشرطة المحلية إلى إطلاق عملية بحث مكثفة عن المسلح الطليق، محذرة السكان عبر منصة «إكس» بضرورة تجنب المنطقة فوراً والالتزام بالتوجيهات، قبل أن تعلن في وقت لاحق إحكام سيطرتها الكاملة على الموقع لإعادة الطمأنينة إلى النفوس المذعورة.
وتأتي هذه الفاجعة لتعيد إلى الأذهان هواجس السلاح في البلاد، إذ تشهد كندا تصاعداً مقلقاً في حوادث إطلاق النار؛ فقبل فترة وجيزة هز حادث مماثل مدينة مونتريال أودى بحياة شخصين أحدهما ضابط شرطة، فضلاً عن الفاجعة الأكبر التي شهدتها بلدة «تامبلر ريدج» غربي البلاد في فبراير الماضي، حينما أنهت امرأة مسلحة حياة ثمانية أشخاص بينهم والدتها وشقيقها داخل مدرسة، وأصابت 27 آخرين قبل أن تنهي حياتها، ما يفتح الباب مجدداً حول التساؤلات الإنسانية والأمنية المرتبطة بهذه الحوادث المتكررة.
