توصّل يورغن كلوب إلى اتفاق نهائي مع الاتحاد الألماني لتدريب المنتخب الأول، بعدما أبدى موافقته على قيادة «المانشافت» خلفاً للمدرب المستقيل يوليان ناغلسمان، وذلك بعد أن شهدت مشاركات ألمانيا في آخر ثلاث نسخ من كأس العالم خيبات أمل متتالية؛ إذ خرجت من دور المجموعات مرتين، بينما انتهى مشوارها في النسخة الأخيرة بهزيمة أمام باراغواي، أقصيت على إثرها من دور الـ32.
وكان الأداء في بطولة أمم أوروبا 2024 أكثر إيجابية، لكن عموماً لم يحقق المنتخب الألماني بطولة كبرى ناجحة منذ يورو 2016. وبالنسبة لمنتخب تُوّج بكأس العالم أربع مرات وببطولة أوروبا ثلاث مرات، فإن عقداً كاملاً من النتائج المخيبة يُعد أقل بكثير من مستوى التوقعات والطموحات.
Jürgen Klopp has reached a final agreement with the German Football Association to coach the national team, after he expressed his willingness to lead the "Mannschaft" following the resignation of coach Julian Nagelsmann. This comes after Germany's participation in the last three World Cups ended in consecutive disappointments; they were eliminated in the group stage twice, while their journey in the most recent edition ended with a defeat against Paraguay, which resulted in their exit from the Round of 32.
The performance in the UEFA Euro 2024 was more positive, but overall, the German national team has not achieved a successful major tournament since Euro 2016. For a team that has won the World Cup four times and the European Championship three times, a full decade of disappointing results is far below the level of expectations and ambitions.
