The Egyptian national team opened the scoring in the 13th minute, after a precise cross sent by Karim Hafez from in front of the penalty area, which was met by Imam Ashour with a header that found the back of the Australian net.
Hani scores an own goal
The Australian national team equalized in the 55th minute, after a free kick from the left side was executed as a cross into the penalty area, which was accidentally headed into his own net by Egyptian right-back Mohamed Hani.
The Egyptian team dominated possession for most of the second half and missed several scoring opportunities, leading both teams to extra time, which did not see any change in the score.
