وجاء كين في صدارة القائمة متجاوزاً الأسطورتين بيلي رايت وبوبي مور، اللذين حمل كل منهما شارة قيادة منتخب إنجلترا في 90 مباراة، ليكسر رقماً ظل صامداً لعقود ويؤكد مكانته بين أعظم قادة المنتخب الإنجليزي.
ويضم سجل أكثر قادة إنجلترا أيضاً مشاركة برايان روبسون بـ65 مباراة، ثم ديفيد بيكهام بـ59 مباراة، قبل ستيفن جيرارد بـ38 مباراة، في قائمة تضم نخبة من أساطير الكرة الإنجليزية.
ولا يواصل كين تحطيم الأرقام التهديفية فحسب، بل يضيف إلى مسيرته إنجازاً تاريخياً جديداً في القيادة، ليعزز إرثه مع منتخب إنجلترا، بعدما أصبح الهداف التاريخي لـ«الأسود الثلاثة»، والآن القائد الأكثر مشاركة في تاريخ المنتخب.

The record of England's most-capped captains also includes Bryan Robson with 65 matches, followed by David Beckham with 59 matches, and then Steven Gerrard with 38 matches, in a list featuring a selection of English football legends.
