وتقدم المنتخب الأمريكي مبكرا عن طريق أوستون تروستي في الدقيقة الثالثة، قبل أن يدرك أردا غولر التعادل لتركيا في الدقيقة العاشرة، ثم منح باريش يلماز التقدم لمنتخب بلاده في الدقيقة (31).
وفي الشوط الثاني، أعاد سيباستيان برهالتر المباراة إلى نقطة التعادل بتسجيله الهدف الثاني للولايات المتحدة في الدقيقة (49)، قبل أن يخطف كان أيهان هدف الفوز لتركيا في الدقيقة الثامنة من الوقت بدل الضائع.
ورغم الفوز، ودع المنتخب التركي البطولة بعدما أنهى منافسات المجموعة الرابعة في المركز الأخير برصيد ثلاث نقاط، فيما حافظ المنتخب الأمريكي على صدارة المجموعة برصيد ست نقاط، ليضمن التأهل إلى دور الـ 32 من البطولة.

The American team took an early lead through Austin Trusty in the third minute, before Arda Güler equalized for Turkey in the tenth minute, and then Barış Yılmaz gave his team the lead in the thirty-first minute.
In the second half, Sebastian Berhalter brought the match back to a tie by scoring the second goal for the United States in the forty-ninth minute, before Kan Ayhan snatched the winning goal for Turkey in the eighth minute of stoppage time.
Despite the victory, the Turkish team exited the tournament after finishing the fourth group matches in last place with three points, while the American team maintained its lead in the group with six points, securing qualification to the Round of 32 of the tournament.
