وفرض منتخب غانا بقيادة كارلوس كيروش التعادل السلبي على منتخب إنجلترا، بعدما عجز المنتخب الإنجليزي عن هز الشباك طوال المباراة رغم السيطرة الكاملة.

وبحسب شبكة «فوت ميركاتو»، فقد تبادل جود بيلينغهام ولاعبو منتخب غانا الشتائم بين الشوطين، بعدما أفلت نجم إنجلترا من بطاقة صفراء إثر تدخل عنيف على جيروم أوبوكو بالقرب من خط التماس.
إهانة كيروش بألفاظ بذيئة
كما دخل بيلينغهام في مشادة مع مدرب غانا كارلوس كيروش، الذي طالب باحتساب ركلة جزاء لفريقه، إضافة إلى خلاف مع أحد أعضاء الجهاز الفني، إذ وجّه ألفاظاً بذيئة وإهانات إلى مدرب المنتخب الغاني.

وعقب المباراة، علق كيروش على الواقعة قائلاً: «لقد تصرف بشكل سيئ وتلفظ بإهانات، كنت أحاول فقط أن أطلب منه الهدوء بعد ذلك التدخل العنيف، لقد داس على لاعبنا، وكان هدفي الأول تهدئته لأنني كنت أخشى أن يكون اللاعب قد تعرض لإصابة أثرت على جاهزيته البدنية».
وأضاف المدرب البرتغالي: «في مثل هذه اللحظات المشحونة بالعواطف، تحدث أمور كهذه بشكل طبيعي، لقد شتم، ما زاد التوتر، لكن هذه هي كرة القدم، ولا يوجد شيء استثنائي في ذلك، كلمة واحدة كانت كافية لإشعال الموقف، لكن التوتر هدأ لاحقاً، كرة القدم ليست حفلة رسمية أو مجرد عرض استعراضي».

After the match, Queiroz commented on the incident, saying: "He behaved poorly and uttered insults; I was just trying to ask him to calm down after that violent tackle. He stepped on our player, and my first goal was to calm him down because I feared that the player might have sustained an injury that affected his physical readiness."
The Portuguese coach added: "In such emotionally charged moments, things like this happen naturally.
