كتب منتخب كندا اسمه في قائمة المنتخبات التي تمكنت من تذوق طعم الفوز في تاريخ كأس العالم بعد فوزه القوي على ضيفه قطر بنتيجة 6/ 0 ولم يكن هذا الفوز عادياً، إذ كان الفوز التاريخي اﻷول للمنتخب الكندي في كأس العالم.
وجاء هذا الفوز التاريخي اﻷول بعد أن عجز المنتخب الكندي في تذوق طعم اﻻنتصارات بمشاركته السابقة وذلك في نسختي 1986 و2022، وقد لعب 6 وخسرها جميعاً ولم يذق طعم الفوز. وفي افتتاح النسخة الحالية التي يستضيفها مع أمريكا والمكسيك تعادل في لقاء الافتتاح أمام البوسنة والهرسك بهدف لكل منهما، وفي لقائه الثامن تمكن أخيراً من تحقيق ذلك اﻻنتصار المنتظر.
وبذلك تتقلص قائمة المنتخبات المشاركة في النسخة الحالية الباحثة عن انتصارها التاريخي اﻷول إلى 9 منتخبات، ويأتي في مقدمتها منتخب مصر كأكثر المنتخبات خوضاً للمباريات دون تحقيق اﻻنتصار، فقد لعب المنتخب المصري 8 مباريات في 3 مشاركات وذلك في نسخ 1934 و1990 و2018، وفي النسخة الحالية تعثر بالتعادل مع منتخب بلجيكا بهدف لكل منهما.
فيما خاض منتخب هايتي 4 لقاءات، 3 منها في ظهوره اﻷول عام 1974 وخاض 3 لقاءات وخسرها جميعاً، وفي افتتاح النسخة الحالية خسر من أسكتلندا بهدف دون مقابل.
فيما يبحث منتخب العراق عن تحقيق الفوز التاريخي اﻷول له في كأس العالم بعد ظهوره عام 1986 ورغم تقديمه مستويات مميزة إﻻ أنه عجز عن تحقيق اﻻنتصار آنذاك، وفي أول لقاءاته في النسخة الحالية خسر من النرويج وتنتظره مواجهتان صعبتان للغاية أمام فرنسا والسنغال.
كما يسعى منتخب نيوزيلندا إلى كتابة اسمه في قائمة المنتخبات التي تذوقت طعم اﻻنتصار في المونديال بعد أن فشل في 7 لقاءات، 3 منها كانت في نسخة 1982 وخسر وقتها في اللقاءات الثلاثة، و3 أخرى في نسخة 2010 وتعادل فيها جميعاً، وفي النسخة الحالية تعادل في لقائه اﻻفتتاحي أمام المنتخب اﻹيراني بهدفين لكل منهما.
كما يسعى مستضيف النسخة الماضية 2022 منتخب قطر لتحقيق فوزه اﻷول بعد أن تعرض للخسارة في اللقاءات الثلاثة التي خاضها في ظهوره اﻷول في النسخة السابقة، كما عجز عن الفوز في النسخة الحالية في أول مواجهتين، تعادل مع سويسرا، وخسر من كندا، ويبحث عن الفوز في المواجهة اﻷخيرة له عندما يلاقي منتخب البوسنة والهرسك.
فيما عجزت المنتخبات اﻷربعة التي تشارك لأول مرة في تحقيق الفوز في الجولة الأولى للنسخة الحالية، وهي منتخبات: اﻷردن، وأوزبكستان، والرأس اﻷخضر، وكوراساو.

The Egyptian team has played 8 matches in 3 participations in the 1934, 1990, and 2018 editions, and in the current edition, it stumbled with a draw against Belgium, with a goal for each side.
The Haitian team has played 4 matches, 3 of which were in its first appearance in 1974, and it lost all three matches. In the opening of the current edition, it lost to Scotland by a goal to nil.
The Iraqi team is also seeking to achieve its historic first win in the World Cup after its appearance in 1986. Despite presenting impressive levels, it failed to secure a victory back then. In its first match in the current edition, it lost to Norway and faces two very tough matches against France and Senegal.
The New Zealand team is also striving to write its name in the list of teams that have tasted victory in the World Cup after failing in 7 matches, 3 of which were in the 1982 edition where it lost all three matches, and 3 others in the 2010 edition where it drew all of them. In the current edition, it drew in its opening match against the Iranian team with two goals for each side.
The host of the last edition in 2022, the Qatari team, is looking to achieve its first win after losing in all three matches it played in its first appearance in the previous edition. It also failed to win in the current edition in its first two matches, drawing with Switzerland and losing to Canada, and is seeking victory in its final match against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The four teams participating for the first time have also failed to achieve victory in the first round of the current edition, namely: Jordan, Uzbekistan, Cape Verde, and Curacao.
