قرر الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا) صرف المكافأة المالية كاملة للحكم الصومالي عمر أرتان، رغم استبعاده من المشاركة في إدارة مباريات كأس العالم 2026 بعد منعه من دخول الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
وتعرَّض أرتان للمنع عبر مطار ميامي الدولي، بعدما أشارت إدارة الجمارك وحماية الحدود الأمريكية إلى وجود «دواعٍ أمنية»، من دون الكشف عن تفاصيل إضافية، وهو ما دفع (فيفا) إلى استبعاده من قائمة حكام البطولة.
ووفقاً لشبكة (بي بي سي سبورت)، قرر (فيفا) منح الحكم الصومالي جميع مستحقاته المالية رغم عدم إدارته أي مباراة في المونديال، فيما لم يُعرف بعد حجم المكافأة النهائية التي سيحصل عليها، إذ تُحدد عادةً بعد انتهاء البطولة.
وجاء قرار التعويض بالتزامن مع إعلان الاتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم (يويفا) تكليف عمر أرتان بإدارة مباراة كأس السوبر الأوروبي 2026 بين باريس سان جيرمان الفرنسي وأستون فيلا الإنجليزي، في تأكيد جديد على الثقة بإمكاناته التحكيمية.
وعاد أرتان إلى الصومال وسط استقبال جماهيري ورسمي حافل، بعدما تحول إلى رمز رياضي في بلاده، رغم حرمانه من الظهور في أكبر بطولة كروية في العالم.
The International Football Federation (FIFA) has decided to grant the full financial bonus to Somali referee Omar Artan, despite his exclusion from officiating at the 2026 World Cup after being denied entry into the United States.
Artan was prevented from entering through Miami International Airport, after the U.S. Customs and Border Protection indicated there were "security reasons," without disclosing further details, which led FIFA to exclude him from the list of referees for the tournament.
According to the BBC Sport network, FIFA has decided to grant the Somali referee all his financial entitlements despite not officiating any matches in the World Cup, while the exact amount of the final bonus he will receive is still unknown, as it is usually determined after the tournament concludes.
The decision for compensation came alongside the announcement by the European Football Association (UEFA) appointing Omar Artan to officiate the 2026 UEFA Super Cup match between French club Paris Saint-Germain and English club Aston Villa, reaffirming confidence in his refereeing capabilities.
Artan returned to Somalia to a grand reception from the public and officials, having become a sports symbol in his country, despite being deprived of appearing in the world's largest football tournament.
