أوضح أخصائي الإصابات الرياضية ثامر الشهراني أن طريقة إصابة سلطان الغنام في نهائي دوري أبطال آسيا تُشير مبدئياً إلى احتمالية تعرضه لقطع في الرباط الصليبي الأمامي، بعد نزول خاطئ على القدم مع اندفاع الركبة والساق إلى الأمام أثناء الالتحام.
وأشار الشهراني إلى أن اللاعب أكمل المباراة رغم الإصابة، بعد تدخل الجهاز الطبي واستخدام التثبيت واللاصق الطبي عقب فحصه داخل الملعب، مؤكداً أن هذا النوع من الإصابات كان يستوجب إخراج اللاعب مباشرة لتجنب أي مضاعفات إضافية داخل الركبة.
وأضاف أن استمرار الغنام في اللقاء لا ينفي خطورة الإصابة، مبيناً أن بعض حالات الرباط الصليبي يستطيع فيها اللاعب مواصلة اللعب لفترة قصيرة قبل ظهور الأعراض بشكل أكبر لاحقًا، وسط مخاوف من غيابه عن كأس العالم في حال تأكد التشخيص النهائي.
Sports injuries specialist Thamer Al-Shahrani clarified that Sultan Al-Ghanam's injury in the AFC Champions League final initially indicates the possibility of an anterior cruciate ligament tear, following a wrong landing on the foot with the knee and leg thrusting forward during the collision.
Al-Shahrani pointed out that the player completed the match despite the injury, after the medical staff intervened and used stabilization and medical tape following his examination on the field, emphasizing that this type of injury typically requires the player to be taken out immediately to avoid any additional complications within the knee.
He added that Al-Ghanam's continuation in the match does not negate the seriousness of the injury, noting that in some cases of ACL injuries, the player can continue playing for a short period before symptoms become more pronounced later, amid concerns about his absence from the World Cup if the final diagnosis is confirmed.
