كشف الرئيس الأمريكي دونالد ترمب أن نجله «بارون» معجب بقائد فريق إنتر ميامي والمنتخب الأرجنتيني «ميسي»، جاء ذلك خلال حفل استقبال فريق أفراد الفريق بعد فوز النادي بكأس الدوري الأمريكي لكرة القدم، لأول مرة في ديسمبر 2025، ووقف ميسي وزملاؤه في الفريق على المنصة، بينما كان ترمب يخاطب وسائل الإعلام احتفالا بإنجازهم، وقال:«أخبرني ابني بارون بوجودك اليوم وإنه معجب كثيراً بك ويعتقد أنك شخص رائع، وأعتقد أنكما التقيتما منذ فترة»، وتابع يقول:«لقد حقق ميسي الكأس رقم 47 في مسيرته الكروية المرصعة بالذهب وهو أكبر عدد من الكؤوس على الإطلاق»، مقدما شكره لقائد ميامي لاختياره اللعب في ميامي، رغم العروض الكثيرة التي وصلته من عدة دول، وقال: «كان بإمكانك الذهاب إلى أي مكان في العالم، وأي فريق في العالم، لكنك اخترت ميامي.. أشكرك على إتاحة هذه الفرصة لنا جميعا».

He continued, "Messi has achieved his 47th cup in his illustrious football career, which is the most cups ever." He expressed his gratitude to the Miami captain for choosing to play in Miami, despite the many offers he received from several countries. He said, "You could have gone anywhere in the world, to any team in the world, but you chose Miami... Thank you for giving us all this opportunity."
