وقال حسن شحاتة في تصريحات خاصة لـ«عكاظ»: «منتخب مصر قدم مستوى جيداً في دور المجموعات وحقق مكاسب عدة، أبرزها القدرة على العودة في النتيجة أمام زيمبابوي بالجولة الأولى وفرض السيطرة الهجومية، ثم الفوز الصعب والمهم على جنوب أفريقيا في الجولة الثانية، رغم خوض الشوط الثاني بعشرة لاعبين بعد طرد محمد هاني، إضافة إلى إتاحة الفرصة للبدلاء في المباراة الثالثة للاطمئنان على جميع العناصر».
وأضاف: «مكاسب دور المجموعات رفعت الروح المعنوية للاعبي المنتخب والجهاز الفني، ما يعزز فرصهم في الأدوار الإقصائية ومواصلة المشوار نحو اللقب».
