وقال لورينسو في تصريحات خاصة إلى «عكاظ»: «المباراة التي غيّرت حياته وجعلته يصل إلى ما حلم به وعمل لأجله كانت في أغسطس 2003، في افتتاح ملعب «جوزيه ألفالادي» أمام مانشستر يونايتد، ذلك الأداء كان بداية قصته في عالم كرة القدم».
وأضاف: «وصل رونالدو إلى سبورتنغ لشبونة وهو صغير جداً، لكنه جاء بهدف واضح: العمل للوصول إلى النجومية وأن يصبح الأفضل، وقد حقق ذلك. لقد جاء من عائلة بسيطة وكادحة لم تترك شيئاً للصدفة».
الحنين للعائلة.. أول تحدٍّ
وتابع: «في رأيي، ما كان صعباً عليه في البداية هو الشعور بالحنين والابتعاد عن عائلته خلال أيامه الأولى مع سبورتنغ، لكنه تخطى ذلك سريعاً بمساعدة الزملاء الذين كانوا يعيشون معه في مركز الإقامة التابع للنادي».
وواصل: «أتمنى أن يواصل الاستمتاع بكرة القدم وأن يمنحنا المتعة كما فعل دائماً، فنحن ندرك أن كل شيء سينتهي يوماً ما، لذلك أتمنى أن يستثمر كل لحظة في التدريبات والمباريات دون أن ينسى الأهداف، لقد حرَم نفسه من أشياء كثيرة ليحقق هذه المكانة».

وحول علاقته الحالية بقائد النصر، أوضح: «ما زلنا نحافظ على علاقة جيدة ونتبادل الرسائل من حين لآخر».
