Liverpool suffered a clean 3-0 defeat at the hands of their guest Nottingham Forest during the match that took place this evening (Saturday) as part of the 12th round of the English Premier League.

Nottingham Forest's goals were scored by Murillo (33'), Nicolo Savona (46'), and Morgan White (78').

Nottingham became the fourth visiting team to win a Premier League match at Anfield by a margin of three goals or more, following Chelsea in October 2005 (4-1), West Ham in August 2015 (3-0), and Manchester City in February 2021 (4-1). They moved out of the relegation zone to 16th place with 12 points, while Liverpool remained stagnant at 18 points in 11th place.

This is also the second time Liverpool has lost two consecutive league matches by a margin of three goals or more for the first time since April 1965 under Bill Shankly, after losing 0-3 in the previous round against Manchester City.

Liverpool was not poor in the first half; they dominated most of the time and were the more dangerous side, but their 10 shots did not shake the net of Belgian goalkeeper Mats Sels. However, against the run of play, Brazilian defender Murillo opened the scoring for the visitors with a shot from inside the area after receiving a ball that was cleared from the defense following a corner (33').

The visitors thought they had increased their tally just two minutes later with a goal from fellow Brazilian Igor Jesus (35'), but the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) disallowed it for a handball.

Nevertheless, Nottingham players did not give their hosts a chance to change the game in the second half, as they scored the second goal just one minute after the whistle through Italian Nicolo Savona (46'), and then sealed the deal with the third through Morgan Gibbs White (78'), ending the match with Nottingham winning three goals to none.

With this result, Liverpool's points total was halted at 18 in 11th place, while Nottingham Forest raised their tally to 12 points in 16th place.
