بعد نحو أسبوعين من إعلانه أنه يريد إعادة صياغة نادي الخلود السعودي لكرة القدم ليكون مثل نادي برايتون الإنجليزي، قال المستثمر الأمريكي الذي أضحى في يوليو 2025 أول مستثمر يمتلك ناديا في السعودية بن هاربيرغ إنه يريد تعميق رهانه على الرياضة السعودية، من خلال امتلاك أول نادٍ سعودي لكرة القدم النسائية.
وأضاف المستثمر في التكنولوجيا هاربيرغ أنه يأمل بالتفوق على المستثمرين الأكثر ثراء منه من خلال استثمار أموال ضخمة في البيانات وبنيتها الأساسية.

وقال إنه سيستخدم الذكاء الاصطناعي لشراء لاعبين مغمورين لبناء نادي الخلود من جديد.
وأوضح أن مشكلته تتمثل في أنه وجد نادي الخلود بلا قاعدة مشجعين، وبلا تاريخ رياضي، وبلا بنية أساسية.
وأضاف أن ذلك سيتطلب إنفاق ما يراوح بين 20 مليونا و30 مليون دولار.
وأكد أنه سيستخدم البيانات والذكاء الاصطناعي لتقويم اللاعبين وإدارتهم، واختيار لاعبين مغمورين لضمهم إلى النادي. وذكر أنه واثق من أن ذلك سيجعل الخلود قادرا على منافسة الأندية السعودية التي تملك أغلى اللاعبين في العالم.
وزاد: «هذا النادي تاريخه قصير جدا، وهو جديد في عالم كرة القدم السعودي، بل إن كثيرا من السعوديين لم يسمعوا به قط. وهو ما يعني أنه يمكننا أن نبنيه من الصفر بطريقتنا الخاصة بنا».
وأوضح أنه يعتبر افتقار الخلود إلى جماهير أمرا فيه فائدة. وقال هاربيرغ إنه يدرس شراء نادٍ لكرة القدم النسائية السعودية، وسبل جعله مربحا.
وزاد أنه متفائل بأن كرة القدم النسائية السعودية قد تتمكن ذات يوم من التفوق حتى على كرة القدم الرجالية السعودية.
