وقّع الاتحاد السعودي للترايثلون مذكرة تفاهم إستراتيجية مع منظمة المحترفين للترايثلون (PTO)، في خطوة تُعد من أبرز محطات تطوير هذه الرياضة في المملكة.
وجرت مراسم التوقيع في مجمع الأمير فيصل بن فهد الأولمبي بالرياض، بحضور الأمير فهد بن جلوي بن عبدالعزيز بن مساعد رئيس الاتحاد الآسيوي للترايثلون، ورئيس الاتحاد الدولي للترايثلون أنطونيو أريماني، إضافة إلى رئيس الاتحاد السعودي للترايثلون مشعل السليمان.
وتهدف الاتفاقية إلى بناء منظومة متكاملة لتطوير رياضة الترايثلون، بدءًا من تنمية القاعدة الشعبية مرورًا بإعداد نخبة من الرياضيين القادرين على المنافسة عالميًا، وصولًا إلى تعزيز ثقافة النشاط البدني ونمط الحياة الصحية في مختلف مناطق المملكة.
وتضع المذكرة إطارًا لتعاون واسع يشمل استضافة فعاليات دولية كبرى، أبرزها سباقات T100 Triathlon World Tour، وإطلاق بطولة ترايثلون وطنية سعودية، إلى جانب تطوير برامج لصقل المواهب السعودية بالتعاون مع نخبة المحترفين العالميين.
وتتضمن الشراكة خططًا مشتركة لابتكار محتوى إعلامي وتسويقي نوعي، وتأمين شريك بث محلي لنقل البطولات، إضافة إلى دعم برامج التطوير الرياضي، وتقديم التدريب المتخصص للكوادر الفنية والمتطوعين، بما يعزز جاهزية القطاع لاستضافة الأحداث الرياضية الكبرى.
وأكّد رئيس الاتحاد السعودي للترايثلون، أن الاتفاقية تشكّل منعطفًا مهمًا في مسار الارتقاء باللعبة داخل المملكة، مشيرًا إلى أنها ستُحدث نقلة نوعية في الفرص المتاحة للرياضيين، وتعزّز حضور المملكة في المشهد الدولي للترايثلون.
من جانبه، أوضح رئيس الاتحاد الدولي، أن الشراكة تنسجم مع رؤية الاتحاد في توسيع انتشار الرياضة عالميًا، مشيرًا إلى ما تمتلكه المملكة من إمكانات كبيرة لاستضافة فعاليات عالمية عالية المستوى.
The Saudi Triathlon Federation signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with the Professional Triathletes Organization (PTO), in a move considered one of the most significant milestones in the development of this sport in the Kingdom.
The signing ceremony took place at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Olympic Complex in Riyadh, in the presence of Prince Fahd bin Jiluwi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaid, President of the Asian Triathlon Federation, and Antonio Arimany, President of the International Triathlon Union, in addition to Mishaal Al-Sulaiman, President of the Saudi Triathlon Federation.
The agreement aims to build a comprehensive system for developing the sport of triathlon, starting from grassroots development, through the preparation of a select group of athletes capable of competing globally, and reaching the enhancement of the culture of physical activity and healthy lifestyles in various regions of the Kingdom.
The memorandum establishes a framework for extensive cooperation that includes hosting major international events, most notably the T100 Triathlon World Tour races, and launching a national Saudi triathlon championship, in addition to developing programs to refine Saudi talents in collaboration with top global professionals.
The partnership includes joint plans to create high-quality media and marketing content, secure a local broadcasting partner to transmit the championships, as well as support sports development programs and provide specialized training for technical staff and volunteers, thereby enhancing the sector's readiness to host major sporting events.
The President of the Saudi Triathlon Federation confirmed that the agreement represents an important turning point in the path of elevating the sport within the Kingdom, noting that it will bring about a qualitative shift in the opportunities available for athletes and enhance the Kingdom's presence in the international triathlon scene.
For his part, the President of the International Federation explained that the partnership aligns with the federation's vision to expand the global reach of the sport, pointing out the significant potential the Kingdom has to host high-level international events.
