أعاد المنتخب السعودي لكرة اليد للشباب كتابة التاريخ من جديد بعد أن توّج اليوم بالميدالية الذهبية والمركز الأول في منافسات كرة اليد بدورة الألعاب الآسيوية الثالثة للشباب (البحرين 2025)، عقب فوزه على نظيره الكويتي بنتيجة (29 – 28) في اللقاء الختامي الذي أُقيم على صالة أم الحصم بالعاصمة البحرينية المنامة، وسط حضور جماهيري كبير ساند الأخضر حتى لحظة التتويج.
وجاءت المباراة حافلة بالإثارة والندية منذ دقائقها الأولى وحتى صافرة النهاية، حيث انتهى الشوط الأول بتقدم المنتخب السعودي بنتيجة (15 – 13)، قبل أن يواصل تألقه في الحصة الثانية ويتمسك بأفضليته حتى حسم اللقاء بفارق هدف، ليصعد إلى منصة الذهب الآسيوي للمرة الأولى في تاريخه.
ويُعد هذا الإنجاز هو الأول من نوعه في تاريخ مشاركات المنتخبات السعودية لكرة اليد في الدورات الآسيوية بمختلف فئاتها، والثاني على مستوى اللعبة بعد برونزية «آسياد بكين 1990»، ليمنح الأخضر الشاب الرياضة السعودية إنجازاً تاريخياً جديداً، ويرفع رصيد المملكة في الدورة إلى (21) ميدالية، منها (5) ذهبيات و(4) فضيات و(12) برونزية.
وشهدت مراسم التتويج حضور نائب رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية رئيس البعثة الرياضية السعودية المشاركة في الدورة الأمير فهد بن جلوي بن عبدالعزيز بن مساعد،، الذي توّج لاعبي المنتخب بالميداليات الذهبية إلى جانب رئيس الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة اليد بدر ذياب.
وفي إنجاز آخر، حقق المنتخب السعودي للرياضات الإلكترونية الميدالية الذهبية الثانية له في الدورة، بعد فوزه بالمركز الأول في منافسات لعبة (Rocket League) للفرق، بمشاركة اللاعبين صالح باخشوين، وهشام القاضي، ويزيد باخشوين، الذين تفوقوا على منتخب عُمان بـ3 أهداف دون مقابل في نصف النهائي، قبل أن يكرروا النتيجة ذاتها أمام الأردن في النهائي.
من جهة أخرى، سجّل لاعب المنتخب السعودي للمصارعة الشاطئية وليد المولد اسمه في سجلات التاريخ الرياضي السعودي أول لاعب يحقق ميدالية آسيوية في رياضة المصارعة الشاطئية، عقب فوزه ببرونزية وزن (90 كغم) بتفوقه على لاعب منتخب فيتنام في لقاء تحديد المركز الثالث.
The Saudi youth handball team has rewritten history once again after being crowned today with the gold medal and first place in the handball competitions of the third Asian Youth Games (Bahrain 2025), following their victory over the Kuwaiti team with a score of (29 – 28) in the final match held at the Um Al-Hassam Hall in the Bahraini capital, Manama, amidst a large audience that supported the green team until the moment of the award ceremony.
The match was filled with excitement and competitiveness from the first minutes until the final whistle, as the first half ended with the Saudi team leading by a score of (15 – 13). They continued to shine in the second half and maintained their advantage until they secured the victory by a one-goal margin, ascending to the Asian gold podium for the first time in their history.
This achievement is the first of its kind in the history of Saudi handball teams' participation in Asian tournaments across various categories, and the second in the sport after the bronze medal at the "Beijing 1990 Asian Games," granting the young green team a new historical achievement for Saudi sports and raising the Kingdom's total medal count in the tournament to (21), including (5) golds, (4) silvers, and (12) bronzes.
The award ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee and head of the Saudi sports delegation participating in the tournament, Prince Fahd bin Jiluwi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaid, who awarded the players of the team with gold medals alongside the President of the Asian Handball Federation, Badr Dhiab.
In another achievement, the Saudi esports team secured its second gold medal in the tournament after winning first place in the team competition of the game (Rocket League), with players Saleh Bakshwain, Hisham Al-Qadi, and Yazid Bakshwain, who defeated the Oman team by 3 goals to none in the semifinals, before repeating the same result against Jordan in the final.
On another note, Saudi beach wrestling player Walid Al-Muallad has etched his name in the records of Saudi sports history as the first player to win an Asian medal in beach wrestling, after securing a bronze medal in the (90 kg) weight category by defeating a Vietnamese player in the match for third place.
