في إنجاز تاريخي غير مسبوق، نجح نجم نادي القادسية ولاعب المنتخب السعودي للجودو محمد عسيري، في إهداء الوطن أول ميدالية آسيوية في تاريخ رياضة الجودو السعودية، بعد تحقيقه الميدالية البرونزية في منافسات وزن 55 كجم، ضمن دورة الألعاب الآسيوية للشباب بالبحرين 2025.
وجاء إنجاز عسيري بعد مشوار حافل بالمنافسة، بدأه بتجاوز لاعب هونغ كونغ في دور الـ16، ثم الفوز على لاعب طاجيكستان في ربع النهائي، قبل أن يخسر بصعوبة أمام لاعب كازاخستان في نصف النهائي، ليعود بقوة ويظفر بالفوز على نظيره التايلندي في مواجهة تحديد المركزين الثالث والرابع.
وشهدت مراسم التتويج حضور وتكريم الفائزين من قبل نائب رئيس اللجنة الأولمبية والبارالمبية السعودية الأمير فهد بن جلوي، الذي قلّد الأبطال الميداليات تقديرًا لإنجازهم.
من جهته، أبدى البطل محمد عسيري سعادته الغامرة بالإنجاز التاريخي، قائلًا: «الحمد لله أولًا وأخيرًا على هذا الإنجاز الذي أهديه لوطني الغالي وقيادتنا الرشيدة، ولوزارة الرياضة واللجنة الأولمبية على دعمهم المتواصل، ولنادي القادسية الذي كان دائمًا بيتي الأول والداعم لمسيرتي». وأضاف: «هذه الميدالية ليست نهاية الطريق، بل بداية لمستقبل أكبر للجودو السعودي».
In an unprecedented historic achievement, Qadsia Club star and Saudi national judo player Mohammed Asiri succeeded in gifting the nation its first Asian medal in the history of Saudi judo, after winning the bronze medal in the 55 kg category at the 2025 Asian Youth Games in Bahrain.
Asiri's achievement came after a competitive journey, starting with his victory over a Hong Kong player in the Round of 16, followed by a win against a player from Tajikistan in the quarter-finals, before narrowly losing to a player from Kazakhstan in the semi-finals. He then made a strong comeback to secure victory against his Thai counterpart in the match for third and fourth place.
The awarding ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Prince Fahd bin Jiluwi, who honored the winners by presenting them with medals in recognition of their achievement.
For his part, champion Mohammed Asiri expressed his overwhelming happiness with the historic achievement, saying: "Thank God, first and foremost, for this achievement which I dedicate to my dear homeland and our wise leadership, and to the Ministry of Sports and the Olympic Committee for their continuous support, and to Qadsia Club, which has always been my first home and supporter of my journey." He added: "This medal is not the end of the road, but the beginning of a greater future for Saudi judo."
