The "Okaz" newspaper learned from informed sources that the Ministry of Sports is about to appoint Engineer Omar Abdullah Al-Harbi as the president of the Ahli Club, alongside Abdulrahman Shaqroon and two other individuals to oversee the legal and accounting departments, for a period of 60 days until the General Assembly convenes and a new Board of Directors is formed to replace the dissolved council. It is expected that Mohammed Al-Alawi will be tasked with overseeing football, and Colonel Mustafa Al-Qabli with basketball, due to their long experience with the club and to rectify the situations of both sports.
It is anticipated that the debts of Ahli Club, which exceed 60 million riyals owed to players, coaches, and administrators during the tenure of former president Mohammed Al-Juhani, will begin to be settled. The club is facing a large number of lawsuits, and failure to pay these debts could lead to the football team being relegated from the second division to the third division, and the basketball team being relegated to the second division according to the regulations of the international federation.
For its part, the special committee formed by the Ministry of Sports is continuing its investigations regarding the financial violations of the previous administration, especially since the club had no financial claims against it and the club's treasury had more than three million riyals, in addition to the existence of 43 cars owned by the club.
The previous period witnessed difficult conditions due to the irregularity of most teams in training, and in fact, a large number of players were not renewed due to the administrative vacuum.
"Okaz" learned that the new council has begun extensive moves to work on organizing the situations of the football and basketball teams before the start of the league.
