Sources revealed to "Okaz" that the captain of the Saudi national team and Al-Hilal club, Salem Al-Dosari, is a candidate to enter the final list of players who will be selected for the Best Player award in the Asian continent, which will be announced later.

Salem Al-Dosari's nomination for the Best Player award in Asia comes after he won the title of top scorer in the 2025/2024 AFC Champions League with 10 goals, received the award for Best Local Player in the Roshen Saudi Professional League last season, and won the Best Player award in the match between Al-Hilal and Pachuca from Mexico in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. He also participated with the Saudi national team in the final Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, and he continues to compete in the upcoming "Asian playoff" matches.

The Asian Football Confederation announced at the beginning of December 2024 that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will host the annual AFC Awards ceremony and the conference of heads of national member associations, regional federations, and secretaries-general for the current year 2025.

It is worth noting that Salem Al-Dosari won the AFC Asian Player of the Year award for 2022 during a ceremony held in the capital, Doha, at the Qatar National Convention Centre.
