يسعى مدرب منتخبنا هيرفي رينارد للثأر من نظيره البحريني، عندما يلتقي المنتخبان مساء غدٍ الخميس ضمن الجولة التاسعة من التصفيات المؤهلة لكأس العالم 2026.
ويأمل رينارد الفوز على منتخب البحرين ورد الدين بعد أن واجه المنتخب البحريني في 3 مواجهات سابقة، كانت جميعها في بطولة كأس الخليج، وانتصر الأخضر تحت قيادة المدرب الفرنسي في مباراة واحدة، وتلقى هزيمتين.
وجاءت أولى مواجهات المدرب رينارد أمام البحرين خلال مرحلته الأولى مع المنتخب، التي امتدت من 2019 حتى 2023، في بطولة كأس الخليج 2019 التي أُقيمت في قطر وانتصر فيها الأخضر السعودي ضمن دور المجموعات بهدفين دون رد، أحرزهما عبدالله الحمدان ومحمد خبراني.
بينما انتصرت البحرين بالمباراة الثانية في النهائي، عندما سجل محمد الرميحي هدف الفوز ليمنح بلاده اللقب.
أما المباراة الأخيرة والثالثة التي جمعتهما كانت بدور المجموعات من كأس الخليج 2025 التي استضافتها الكويت، وانتهت المباراة بخسارة السعودية 3-2، سجل للأخضر في هذه المباراة مصعب الجوير وصالح الشهري، بينما جاءت ثلاثية البحرين مهدي عبدالجبار ومهدي الحميدان ومحمد مرهون.

Our national team coach Hervé Renard is seeking revenge against his Bahraini counterpart when the two teams meet tomorrow evening, Thursday, in the ninth round of the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Renard hopes to win against the Bahrain national team and settle the score after facing the Bahraini team in three previous encounters, all of which were in the Gulf Cup, where the Green team, under the leadership of the French coach, won one match and suffered two defeats.
The first encounter for coach Renard against Bahrain took place during his first term with the national team, which lasted from 2019 to 2023, in the Gulf Cup 2019 held in Qatar, where the Saudi Green team won in the group stage with a score of 2-0, with goals scored by Abdullah Al-Hamdan and Mohammed Khabarani.
Meanwhile, Bahrain won the second match in the final when Mohammed Al-Rumaihi scored the winning goal to grant his country the title.
The last and third match between them was in the group stage of the Gulf Cup 2025 hosted by Kuwait, which ended with Saudi Arabia losing 3-2. The goals for the Green team in this match were scored by Musab Al-Juwair and Saleh Al-Shehri, while Bahrain's three goals came from Mahdi Abdul-Jabbar, Mahdi Al-Humaidan, and Mohammed Marhoon.
