أعلن الاتحاد الإيطالي لكرة القدم، اليوم (الجمعة)، تعيين مدرب منتخب تحت 21 سنة سيلفيو بالديني مديراً فنياً مؤقتاً للمنتخب الأول خلفاً لجينارو غاتوزو.
وأوضح الاتحاد الإيطالي، في بيان، أن بالديني سيقود منتخب إيطاليا الأول في المباراتين الوديتين المقررتين في يونيو القادم ضد لوكسمبورغ واليونان.
وخسر منتخب إيطاليا أمام البوسنة والهرسك بركلات الجزاء الترجيحية في نهائي الملحق الأوروبي المؤهل إلى نهائيات مونديال 2026، نهاية الشهر الماضي، ليفشل بذلك في بلوغ النهائيات للمرة الثالثة على التوالي.
رحيل جماعي بعد فشل التأهل للمونديال
ورحل المدرب جينارو غاتوزو عن تدريب المنتخب الأول، عقب فشل التأهل إلى بطولة كأس العالم 2026، إذ فُسخ عقده بالتراضي.
كما أطاحت صدمة فشل التأهل إلى المونديال أيضاً برئيس الاتحاد الإيطالي غابرييل غرافينا، إلى جانب مدير المنتخب الأول جانلويجي بوفون.
The Italian Football Federation announced today (Friday) the appointment of the under-21 national team coach Silvio Baldini as the interim head coach of the senior national team, succeeding Gennaro Gattuso.
The Italian Federation clarified in a statement that Baldini will lead the senior Italy team in the two friendly matches scheduled for next June against Luxembourg and Greece.
The Italy national team lost to Bosnia and Herzegovina in a penalty shootout in the final of the European playoff for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers at the end of last month, thus failing to reach the finals for the third consecutive time.
Mass Departure After Failure to Qualify for the World Cup
Coach Gennaro Gattuso left his position as head coach of the senior national team following the failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, as his contract was mutually terminated.
The shock of failing to qualify for the World Cup also led to the departure of the President of the Italian Federation, Gabriele Gravina, along with the senior team manager Gianluigi Buffon.
