وكان من الممكن أن يكون فارق الأهداف أكبر في ظل سيطرة هولندا، لكن النتيجة ضمنت للمنتخب الهولندي إنهاء التصفيات بفارق ثلاث نقاط عن منتخب بولندا صاحب المركز الثاني.
وضع تيجاني ريندرز هولندا في المقدمة في الشوط الأول قبل أن يسجل أصحاب الأرض ثلاثة أهداف سريعة في الشوط الثاني عن طريق كودي خاكبو وتشافي سيمونز ودونيل مالين.
وأنهى المنتخب الهولندي مشواره في التصفيات برصيد 20 نقطة، بينما حصل منتخب بولندا على 17 نقطة بعد فوزه الصعب 3-2 خارج أرضه على مالطا.
افتتح ريندرز التسجيل في الدقيقة 16 عندما استدار بشكل حاد لينهي تمريرة فرينكي دي يونج في الشباك.
وكان قد تم استبعاد ريندرز من التشكيلة الأساسية في المباراة التي انتهت بالتعادل 1-1 أمام بولندا في وارسو يوم الجمعة الماضي، وتم تفضيل جاستن كلويفرت في دور لاعب الوسط المهاجم، بحسب «رويترز».

وجاءت ثلاثة أهداف في غضون أربع دقائق أولها في الدقيقة 58 عندما سجل خاكبو ركلة جزاء تم منحها بعد أن أظهر فحص حكم الفيديو المساعد أن أرتيميوس توتيسكيناس لمس الكرة بأطراف أصابعه أثناء ارتقائه لأعلى في التحام هوائي مع ماتياس دي ليخت.
وسجل سيمونز الهدف الثالث لهولندا في الدقيقة 60 من المباراة، بعد أن راوغ اثنين من المدافعين قبل أن يطلق تسديدة قوية لم تمنح حارس المرمى إدفيناس جيرتموناس أي فرصة للتصدي لها.

Tijjani Reijnders put the Netherlands ahead in the first half before the hosts scored three quick goals in the second half through Cody Gakpo, Xavi Simons, and Donyell Malen.
The Dutch team finished their qualifying campaign with 20 points, while the Polish team secured 17 points after a tough 3-2 away win against Malta.
Reijnders opened the scoring in the 16th minute when he turned sharply to finish a pass from Frenkie de Jong into the net.
Reijnders had been left out of the starting lineup in the match that ended in a 1-1 draw against Poland in Warsaw last Friday, with Justin Kluivert preferred in the attacking midfielder role, according to Reuters.
However, Kluivert missed today's match due to injury, giving Reijnders the opportunity to remind everyone of his outstanding form.
Reijnders nearly added a second goal after half an hour of play, as he surged through the midfield and took a shot with his right foot that changed direction and hit the post.
Three goals came within four minutes, the first in the 58th minute when Gakpo scored a penalty awarded after a VAR review showed that Artyomius Tautskinas had touched the ball with his fingertips while rising for an aerial challenge with Matthijs de Ligt.
Simons scored the third goal for the Netherlands in the 60th minute of the match, after dribbling past two defenders before unleashing a powerful shot that gave goalkeeper Edvinas Gertmonas no chance to save.
Two minutes later, Malen broke away from the halfway line on a counterattack and showed great speed to outpace the chasing defenders, striking the ball powerfully into the net with his left foot.
The finals next year in Canada, Mexico, and the United States will mark the Netherlands' 12th appearance in the World Cup. The Dutch team had lost in the finals in 1974, 1978, and 2010.
