Stephen Curry, the star of the Golden State Warriors, has topped the list of the highest-earning players in the NBA, ending LeBron James' 11-year reign at the top of the list.
Forbes magazine predicted on Tuesday that Curry will earn approximately $159.6 million in pre-tax earnings this season, including his player salary and annual income from endorsements and other business ventures, making him the highest-paid player in the NBA for the first time in his illustrious 17-season career.
In the 15 previous annual rankings by Forbes assessing players' annual income and earnings, LeBron James, the star of the Los Angeles Lakers, held the record with $128.7 million in 2024.
James led the NBA player earnings list for 11 consecutive years, starting from the 2014-2015 season, but this year he has dropped to second place with an estimated annual income of $137.6 million.
However, Curry is not the only NBA star reaching new heights; the top 10 highest-earning players in the league are expected to collectively earn $902 million this season, before taxes and agent fees, a 15% increase over the record they set last year ($787 million).
Kevin Durant of the Houston Rockets came in third with an income of $104.3 million, followed by Greek star Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) in fourth place with an income of $99.1 million. Jason Tatum (Boston Celtics) ranked fifth with earnings of $79.1 million, and Anthony Edwards (Minnesota) sixth with earnings of $65.6 million. Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers) was seventh with earnings of $65.2 million, Jimmy Butler (Golden State) followed with earnings of $65.1 million, Canadian Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City) earned $63.3 million, and Serbian Nikola Jokic (Denver Nuggets) rounded out the top ten with earnings of $63.2 million.
